Good to see you back
Rode over to near Canton, NC in which my friend and I took Crabtree Mountain up over the hillside.
From there we took 209 to Fines Creek Road which took us to i40. Made the hard right after the guardrail on i40 onto Hurricane Creek Rd. Wanted to see how “rough” it was since neither of our bikes are set up currently for the rougher off road stuff.
Made it up the road to a nice area where we stopped and took a break. As I was talking to my friend I notice his eyes get big and I turned around fast only to see a black bear glance at us then took off running up the road opposite direction of us. Notice the big tree right next to the road on the right is where the black bear appeared from then ran away from us up the road.
With our senses heightened and my friend wanting to turn around we pressed on. The same way the bear went.
After riding about another 1/2 mile up the road we determined it was getting to rough without proper protection from rocks. Turned around and got back on i40 and got off the Harmon Den Exit. Went under the overpass and made the nice climb up FR288 to Buzzards Roost. What a spectacular view and drop.
Back down the mountain we went.
Hopped back on i40 to fines creek road and back to 209. Ran 209 to hot springs, NC then took some back roads to Asheville, NC with a stop at Luella’s BBQ on Merrimon Ave for some food.
Then headed home! Absolutely wonderful weekend to ride. Until next time!
AMAZING and Beautiful photos!
Amazing. I really want to see what Buzzard's Roost is like.
There’s no guide-rail for safety that’s for sure!
It ain't easy to get back up to the road either.
Let me say, it will make your colon trimble....
it is a good place to see if you fear hights, if you step out on the rock and feel nothing at all then you are not afraid of high places.
My buddy said “I wasn’t afraid of heights until today.”
Is the rope still strung out to Buzzard's Roost? It was a couple of years ago when I was there....
I have in the past climbed 300ft communications towers- that didn't bother me- looking out off Buzzards Roost though sure did!
It wasn't there last Sept.
I’ve posted in the flea market but if anyone is interested or you know anyone looking my 2015 Suzuki Vstrom 650 ABS is up for sale. Has 3000 miles on it. Nothing wrong with it and it’s completely stock. Just don’t have time to ride it anymore. $5500. Price is negotiable.
you'll miss it
hope it's not your only bike
Winter time bike guilt. I've done it for years. Where was this taken?
It’s not. I have a Triumph also.
I believe it’s Crabtree Road just outside of Canton, NC
looks like what I've envisioned what Heaven will be like.
BTW: Buzzard's Roost gives me the willies. In person and lookin' at pictures. that is a long way down!!!!!
Dang-it Nate.........havent we been through this already.
I hope you sell it fast so you can pick up an 18 for this spring.
