Do dealers have to offer a minimum 3 month warranty on second hand bikes or has it been abandoned some time ago?

Is there a difference between the States of Australia or was it just in Victoria like I thought I read somewhere?

You should, theres no liability in Victoria and you have enough stock :lol3
You can also claim all the ones you "cant" sell as a loss :thumb

So, tax deductible therefore I can claim and get money back and buy more - is that how it works?

Man - why didn’t I think of this earlier. :lol3

I bought a used bike from a Vic dealer earlier this year, and it came with a 3 month warranty. Dunno if they had to include it or not, but I've noticed it seems to be mentioned in most, if not all of their ads for used bikes.

Last I heard NSW had to for anything less than 30k or 5 years, no idea how it varies state by state.

Years ago dealers had to give a warranty if a second hand car was sold for above $3000 . If it still exists it would probably have to be for above 10 or 15k .

This, which is the reason for pricing them at $2999, same applying to motorcycles. Unsure if it is still the same today.

Apparently there is no statutory warranty on used commercial vehicles in Vic.... I haven't bought a used bike off a dealer for over 20 years, so couldn't tell you. Ebay has good coverage though.

Surely there’d be an “expectation of reliability/fit for purpose” same as when a warranty runs out the day before that thing you bought has a total systems failure? It’d probably be a lawyer fest but I’ve had things fixed under warranty that were 2 months outside it, usually parts supplied but no labour.

I know. I've been in his shed.

I told my boss I needed to get DR650 #2 reggo'd. He looked at me and asked "Why do you still have another bike after the KTM 790?"

I was like :augie (I won't mention I'm at 5 bikes in my name right now).
