Jeez, dude!? WTF?? I hope you earned it w/ some serious drinking. I looked up Crohn's & it says your birth control pills might be at fault. Maybe you could try a diaphragm or the sponge?

let's hope you get the cute nurse when it's time for your sponge bath. Hang in there, man!

Speedy Recovery! Now, where are the nurse pics? Any chance your docs name is Gino Gerasie? He is a resident in LV hospital.

    I JUST thought of this....

what if I didn't have cell service at Furnace Creek?!?!:huh

(this was the first DVDAZE that we had cell service)

would I have pressed SPOT at camp or I guess I could have used the pay phone.

the PAY PHONE??? Nobody uses pay phones anymore - that's soooooo last century. In fact, that whole "I'm fucked if anything happens" feeling was just part of the excitement of riding/camping before GPS or cell phones. For ultimate security, I guess we could just stay home & play that riding & camping video game. Is that on X-Box or PlayStation?

Not all the ADVers were too tight to drive. You just had to start shaking tent poles. Help would have happened.

Hope you're feeling better. Sounds like a rough end to a great trip. Only thing we did wrong was not wander around camp and meet more people.

dude, seriously don't underestimate perforation of the colon.
it IS life threatening and I don't laugh at any of it.
it wasn't a "my tummy hurts I need a doctor" it was a "I'm violently throwing up, if i don't see a doctor ASAP I will die from bowel fluids going into my abdomen cavity."
the surgeon used 3 liters of antibiotics on my abdomen cavity to make sure other organs don't have they're own issues.

FYI, this intestinal Crohn's Disease flare episode was way way more painful than breaking my ribs and wrist in the car accident.

You're right - it IS serious - and nobody, especially me, is trying to make it seem any less so. Forgive me if I seemed callous - just feebly stabbing at levity.

It does make me wonder about all the times I truly took my life in my hands when I was out in the middle of nowhere chasing an adrenaline rush. As a parent, I now know why my mother was always worried sick when I left & hugged me tight when I returned. Your recovery and all it took to make it happen are a blessing. We're your family, so consider yourself hugged.
