need to post more and you will never forget. mr.b, you're local and hope you could do some of our l.a. rides.

AUs, ok, it's a joke and no worry, i'm too sensitive about campground behavior. just using your post to remind everyone about being a good neighbor. as we all know, riders are the worst bunch, they come back to camp with great stories to share (and lies)...lol.

good memory uncle tom. i recall they are buddies and bartered goodies....no paypal and bitcoins, just music, sex and drugs

Just checked my camera and found these. With Pablo at the springs on the way up and at Owens River Flats on the way back down.

Wow, failed to mention that you also captured rare sightings of the "Men in Black who ride Orange" ... seems they are always out riding but rarely seen

    Thursday (3/25)

Thursday afternoon I had offered to sweep @Lost Roadie Finn's totally noob-friendly sunset ride to Lookout City :augie

In addition to Finn and I, eight daring souls showed up for the "three hour tour" :ksteve
    [IMG]

    And they're off :pynd
    [IMG]

Stright into the sun heading up Minietta Road. Luckily wind was blowing dust right off the track
    [IMG]

Regrouping at departure from Nadeau Road. Now the 'fun' begins :evil
    [IMG]

As mentioned before, I think the trail to Lookout City was just about the worst I have ever seen it this year. Deep gravel, lots of big rocks, and rarely a clean straight line.
If you couldn't stand up or just keep moving steady ... it was a whole lotta physical work :knary

One rider (white DRZ?) reached his limit just beyond the slabs and decided to turn back :thumb

Quite a bit later, I caught up with Mark @AllSeasonRider, who was recovering after an encounter with a rock :muutt
    [IMG]

Got moving again, but just couldn't keep it up on plane and also decided to turn back
    [IMG]

Thought for sure I would catch up with the rest of the group at the 'step' in the narrows, but there was no one around when I arrived :dunno

Guess everyone made it thru :clap

Out of the wash (left) and starting up the final switchback climb (right)

Up on the ridge heading out to Lookout, still no sign of the group
    [IMG]

    There they are :thumb
    [IMG]

Cold, windy, desolate... Simply can't imagine living up here :loco
    [IMG]

Started heading back at the very last bit of sunlight
    [IMG]

Dropping back down into the wash
    [IMG]

A little video at the narrows

    Soldiering on :pynd
    [IMG]

Down Minietta Road and back up the highway at twilight (nice tailwind now)

At the last minute I decided to go on the lookout city ride before dinner. Tough trail even on the WR450, I end up going up the old goat trail past the ass .. that’s where the gps showed it. A rare photo of our guides bike take a quick nap on the way back down . I thought the trail was a little more of a work out than I was expecting for DV , glad I was on a small bike.

Specifically, it was a semi-airborne nose-first encounter with this beach ball-sized piece of sh*t!
    upload_2021-4-13_9-47-8.png

It was fun until it wasn't - confidence zapped and just exhausted. Looks like I have another DV rematch on my list...

Oh - and I trimmed the grip back so the Barkbuster will stop jamming the throttle when it falls over on the right side. I'm thinking if I didn't have to stop for that repair my adrenaline would still be elevated (and by extension my poor judgement as well) and would have allowed to me press on further than I had!

damn, it feels good laughing with you....:rofl

not enough screws on the windshield, or it would be a perfect replica.

thanks for letting us know and wish you be back on the saddle for more spring riding.

@Mikey113 should be making good progress too by this time.

    Hi Joel and all,

Thanks for asking. Not quite yet. On 4/15, I get a surgery to repair my fibula and reattach all my torn ligaments. The surgeon described the ligaments as “destroyed.” I will have 10-12 weeks without bearing weight in my right leg but physical therapy should begin three weeks after surgery. The pain has gradually reduced but the surgeon said after surgery I’ll be “miserable” for 2-3 weeks. I think he missed his calling as a motivational speaker. I’ll post updates after I’m put back together with “a plate, screws, pins, and wire.” I’m hoping he’s doing the thing where he talks it up but it’s really not that bad :lol3:jack On the bright side, my ankle is in alignment as shown.
