    Friday (3/26) (Continued...)

Turns out it was also time for lunch :nod

Luckily, I found @headstaller Chu and @NSFW Joel wok'ing up some tasty wings :dukegirl
    [IMG]

Cooking smells attracted a few others still lingering around camp, including @tbarstow Tim and @SpongeRob Rob, who were all dressed up with nowhere to go :dunno

There was time enough for a shortish afternoon ride, so We decided to do a slightly modified version of @LittleWan 's "Make sand you favorite" loop :thumb

Once again, up the Darwin Toll Road :pynd
    https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-RBwn8vX/0/1280/i-RBwn8vX-1280.mp4

Guess my mind still wasn't in photog mode, 'cause I hardly took any pics during the first part of the ride :fitz

We did make a quick stop at China Garden to feed the fishies

Then on up to Darwin for a meditation break at Hal's Stone Circle

Tim tried to show me how to do a pano selfie, but I don't think this was the desired effect :scratch
    [IMG]

Enough of that relaxing stuff, let's ride :ricky
    [IMG]

    Heading for Centennial Flat
    [IMG]

Turning north at Reed Corral (... where the cell reception is remarkably good :nod)

    :pynd
    [IMG]

Slight turn east at Gill Corral, cross Hwy190, and continue on Saline Valley Road proper to Santa Rosa Flat.

    Speeding north on route S5
    [IMG]

Rob kept close contact all the way
    [IMG]

    Another one for @LittleWan :wave
    [IMG]

We connected over to White Mtn Talc road and took a side excursion to visit Nelson Cabin.

Totally failed to take any pics on this stretch, but here is one from a few years ago
    [IMG]

Chasing Tim back out to the main road
    [IMG]

    :pynd
    [IMG]

Finished off with a spirited run down Hwy190 back to PSR ...

... just in time to get suckered into JL's demo (... again :rolleyes)

I gotta remind myself to NOT return to camp via the main driveway on friday afternoons :lol3

@rider914 those Centennial Flats photos look awfully familiar from the second half of @Lost Roadie 's and my burro track expedition. I don't know that area well, but we must have been connected up with those main tracks?

Also yes I'm still slacking on my RR. I like to let my photos age like fine cheese and stinky wine.

Checked Lippencott Pass off the Noob Rally bucket list. Thank JayPlug, John, Dave, Choo Choo for getting me vertical. Took one sand/rock sample to prove I was there. Forgot all about the ABS on my 690. I never touch it. Leave it on? or take it off for steep downhill rock, sand riding?

Thanks again Joel for organizing the Rally !!

Sounds right. I’m thinking I’ll just turn it off for off road. On for pavement. I felt like I couldn’t slow down enough when needed.

i really enjoyed watching it all the way to the end. it looks easier on the vid for people who havent done it. i went over the bar, my fault for following the rider too close. have to go back and get my revenge.

it would be nice to have a switch on the fly, right on the handlebar.

i ride streets and would rather not have the dongle. just have to remind myself constantly when riding dirt.

Way to hang in there CR. Just my old 2 cents. I would shit can that steering stabilizer. I bought a brand new Scotts years back for my XRL & read everything & adjusted every which way & went down more times on twisty rocky up & down trails than ever before. Sold it & never looked back!

So far I thinks it’s helped more than hurt. Saves me from the higher speed get offs so I’m thinking it’s a keeper.
I did notice it was set pretty stiff.
    Looking forward to next year!

    Hey Joel,

I’ve got a positive update. The surgery on 4/15 went well. Doc did one long incision for the plate to repair fibula and reattach ligaments. He only had to fix the outside of the ankle as the inside looked perfect and responded to his tests well. I got two nerve blocks which kept my leg numb until Saturday morning. Pain ranges from not bad to this sucks but isn’t as bad as I anticipated most of the time. 4/30 is my post op and I’ll “post up” some pictures of my scar and hardware. Thanks again to everyone for the well wishes.

You seem to err on the right for the unintended dismounts :muutt... Good thing you waited until after the 4:20 mark :yikes

Lippencott has a way of turning riding into a team sport :nod

Listen to Tom and just ship that whole kit to me and I'll 'dispose' of it free of charge :deal
