Looks like that site is now down and these tracks arent available.

Have them been uploaded anywhere else?

A lot of sites like Adv are down once in a while for work. GPSXchange.com is fine today.

The web page doesn't show gps waypoints just other sites where purchase is required. Have you uploaded a new web page or is this obsolete? Or am I missing something. Your description is not seen.

If you can write in clear sentences I can probably help you.

What is the rest of the sentence that goes with " found it, but no files on the thread"

I have no idea what "it" is (that is old Clinton line) What king od files? What is "the thread"?

After trying various random words to fill in your blanks, I came up with this.

I finally opened the web site and found the Private Libraries section and opened one of the threads but I do not see any downloadable GPS files?

Answer; You must be logged in to see files!

To answer more questions in advance, no you do not have to upload a file to download from Private Libraries, just register and log in.

Any chance these files could be copied and shared from a site without restrictions, like Dropbox or Google Drive? At the moment I don't have any useful tracks to share with GpsXChange, so even though I have created an account, can't access the files.

I just realized there is a bug on the GpsXchange forum. Lets assume here that I'm not a complete idiot.

Attempting to login to gpsxchange.com (just now, in fact), sometimes the log in doesn't take, even though there is no error message. It took THREE attempts (using the same login/password) before my status changed to logged in on the menu. That forum will show an error message when you put in incorrect credentials (because I tried that too on one attempt), and I'm positive I entered in the correct login each time.

That explains why the files weren't visible, because now that the login finally worked, I can see your files in the private section.

Countdown- Thank you for putting all that together. What a fantastic resource for newbies to the Death Valley region like myself. I'm heading there in Jan and I appreciate your hard work and effort to compile all that!

    Cheers-

    Countdown and I talk occasionally.
Recently he told me he's been banned from ADVrider for life.
    I think that's a darned shame.
He has contributed ALOT to the sport and this site over the years.
There are some folks on here that seem to take delight on taking offense at whatever Countdown says. They say he is promoting his services - guided rides.
And this has gotten him banned.
There are other people on here that have promoted their services/products and it hasn't seemed to be a problem.
The site owners have the right to do whatever they want to do, I just find it sad.

Losing Jerry really hurts this whole site. I too communicate with him occasionally.

There may be some merit to his theory that this is a personnel vendetta with one of the long time moderators.

I tried to get another moderator to look into reinstating him. But the guy wouldn't touch it.

I scrolled up and noticed a few of his old comments were a bit caustic.

Kicking Jerry out is a big mistake. I guess I'm done with this Mapping & Navigation section of the forum.
