Never quite heard of forest tunnels, but, absolutely correct. We see not a whole lot of landscape on most trails in the East. But, we do have green in spades! So, sadly we bring more stuff...it hurts the backpacker in me, but, you do what you gotta do.

Why do trees make you bring more stuff?

Bugs and water. Camp for five days in the Eastern forests and you will be eaten alive by bugs and soaked to the ass every night by rain/dew without some kind of protection - tent, bivy, tarp and net, etc. You may get perfect conditions of dry days and cool nights that prevent some of that, but not a week at a time. You can build a fire and the smoke keeps the bugs down [sort of] but dampness is harder to live with, sleep through, etc. The payback is water is easy to get if you have a way to filter it, wood is everywhere, and air filters can run without much attention since dust is a non-issue.

Oh, and one last tidbit - deer apparently love dirt bikes. With zero side visibility, they pop out ON you all too often; since we tend to use the same green highways through the woods that they do.

JoeMotocross - thanks for taking the time (much time) to craft this ride report. Well done. I frequently briefly peruse ride reports but the ones I follow to the end are few and far between. I followed this one all the way.

No sweat man, I've had fun with you A-holes. Your attached photo doesn't seem to work?

Thanks for the consistent positive stoke Liv! You got a great attitude.

Custom permanent box. The rig is AKA "The Squarestream".

This is hardly considered a chair. I was duped by this last fall when my riding buddy Ricardo said he was bringing his chair. He's on a GS800 so I figured we weren't going to be getting too crazy so I thought I'd pack a chair on my 950 and see what it was all about. We show up at our first camp and Ricardo whips out this little chair sling. Boy, didn't I look like a fool. This embarrassing situation is documented here.

Chasing Hot Stuff around on a mountain bike. (which is no easy task)

Yeah, you get it. Weird shit under the canopy and there is that strange pleasure of seeking and finding the oddities.

Really tough to beat for big off road riding.

This is suspect. I think someone paid him to make those statements. How anyone can find the Adjustafork (scam) useful is beyond me.

    Regarding the tanned knees:
Now that you mentioned mountainbiking it makes perfect sense. But before I was really scratching my head
I'm also mtbing but mostly in the shaded forest so no tanned knees, at least not that extreme.
BTW, you are one of my idols :clap

My adjustafork has served me well. I hope the gas money earned has done the same! Cheers!!

Funny stuff there. This made me think. Since I'm the de-facto ADV-F Profit (no spelling error - Profit not Prophet because that's what I intend to do just like the other religion scams) I think I'll start writing the "Minimalist Manifesto". This will be the groundwork for the religion.
