IIRC - someone who used to manage a service contract to communities in that region told me that they won't give permits for the tracks north from Forrest to Tjun (sacred country?). But they're happy to give permits for the Connie Sue heading north out of Rawlinna.

Maybe @Hill Billy heard it from the same source.

I know the guy that was managing the community out there for some time so I was fortunate enough to be allowed to use some of those tracks.
I was under the impression that the road from Forrest to Tjun was okay, from there you can get out to the Connie Sue and then go North.
The tracks North of Tjun are usually a no go.
I haven't been out there for a few years, and things change, so best to check with the community for your info.

Ive emailed the community to see if permission would likely be granted to travel through the community (No stopping) on route from Forrest-Ilkurlka..see what comes of it.
There’s no mention on their website of travel restrictions, only one way to find out:-)

how are the tracks out that way mate, guessing it will change from limestone country around Forrest to desert sand as you head north

would be nice to be able to travel north up to Ilkurlka...less fuel to carry

was thinking of heading over next year. Made it to Adels Grove this year for the OCR. Have travelled the Anne Beadell a couple of years back, haven't been along the Trans Continental Railway. GNP59 also interested.

Rehydrating at Well 5 earlier this year...

Good water quality plus a shelter with seats and a table nearby.

The sand dune country starts north of Tjuntjuntjara.
Can get a bit chopped up from the locals taking two wheel drives up there.

My experience with Communities and all types of correspondence has never been a positive one. Even phone messages seem to go unanswered.

Yes that pic was between Tjuntjuntjara and Ilkurlka.
On that trip we went from Kalgoorlie to Tjuntjuntjara via Nippon highway and Plumridge Lakes, North to Ilkurlka, then East to Coober Pedy.

I also have similar experiences with communications from communities. On one occasion I gave my credit card details for a permit and never heard from them again, even after follow up emails. They happily took my money though.
