A beggar parked under a magnificent mural.
Did you ride out Jefferson to Rosie's diner by any chance? Great food, near Pewabic pottery and Water Works park.
my mom stays near Jefferson and Dickerson, I left her house heading to belle isle to see if I could get a pic of a laker then continued west for I-375 when I took the pic
Great thread! Not even sure how I stumbled upon it other than maybe due to the sheer number of hours I seem to spend poking around on ADVRider. I was born in Detroit and grew up in the suburbs. I don’t get back there all that much but these photos bring back memories and have ignited a spark of interest in taking a trip back on my moto in the Spring.
from inside the ren cen
Gas Guy read the whole thread well done. I live in Cleveland just a few hours away and used to DJ a lot in Detroit during the 90's -2000's. A lot of these now crumbling buildings held thousands of people during the renadade parties. I played several amazing 7000+ people parties at the now gone Packers building.
As sad as it all is there is something so mesmerizing about seeing and being in the abandoned buildings. Thanks for posting, I'm gonna have to take a trip in the spring to see what's been going on in the D.
Keep up the shots.
down the street from mom's house, see we do have some decent looking neighborhoods
Had an interesting lunch this afternoon. Don't know if any of you are into or follow the UFC cage fight game at all, but, Kevin Lee - "The Motown Phenom" - stopped into the shop today. So, a couple of us UFC fans took him to lunch and spent a few hours talking with him and showing him around Ford World Headquarters.
He is one of the top Lightweight (155) contenders. He just recently fought Tony Ferguson in Vegas for the interim belt - to see who gets a shot at Conor McGregor next. Unfortunately, he fell short on that fight; he had some issues with his weight cut and also entered the fight with a staph infection. He was still winning the fight before a slip up and getting choked out. He is young though. He will hold the belt eventually.
He is from Detroit. His Aunt cleans cars at our shop. Tomorrow night is a big UFC venue in Detroit at Little Caesar's Arena. He is currently living in Las Vegas, but flew in for the week, doing public relations for the event. So his Aunt shot him a text, prompting him to come over and spend some time with us today. He is a humble and down to earth dude.
This is easily one of the coolest threads on ADV!
I was born in Dearborn in '77 but don't really have any connection or memories of the place.
Nice to see the HD out.
