The route is fluid and the riders are set.

Here is the "half a baker's dozen" or "Magnificent Seven" heading to Idaho on Friday June 18th from Dallas Fort Worth:

    1) Big Bad Biker Dude Kevin (me)
    2) Sasquatch Aaron
    3) Pumper Lee
    4) Wild Bill
    5) Flipit Phil
    6) Whispering Dave
    7) Cowboy Cody (I know it is Uncle Buck, but when I saw him get bucked off his Afric Twin about 4 years ago, it is Cowboy Cody for me) (Cody has to be home by June 23rd, so he will turn around at the Tetons)

I sent a text to all the guys to get emergency contact information.

I am heading out on Thursday, June 17th for some alone time to camp at the Grasslands north of Dalhart.

spot tracker goes live June 17th

I will try to do a daily update.

Here are my quirks I sent to the guys today. This is what I have found to keep expectations in check on long distance group tours.

    Quirks

    1) 5 over speed limit, except dirt and fun twisties

    2) 100 miles before breakfast

    3) Lunch: eat sandwiches in pretty or remote places, not gas station or restaurant. I will usually go about 30 minutes ahead of restaurant group and wait there.

    4) Camp 2 or 3 nights, motel/ air bnb /or cabin 4th night. I prefer established camp sites.

    5) Wash clothes every 3, 4 or 5 days

    6) Everybody ride their own ride
No one gets left behind, buddy system

    7) Get supplies for evening around 2 or 3pm

    8) Camp within 30 minutes of hotel group.

    9) Ride about 7 hours per day. Actual riding time, not counting breaks.

    10) Calm, positive attitude and respect for others in group.

    11) Have the time of your life!

    12) Place others needs above my agenda, routes and schedule.

Is your group riding the IDBDR or an amalgamation of various trails?

I like the Quirks list. It's good to have things outlined before heading out.

Looking forward to seeing what you find in Idaho. :lurk

Happen to have any input on the Lolo/Macgruder sections (8 & 9 on the Butler Map) as of right now? I'm considering heading that way the week of June 20. Got stopped by snow last year @ Elk Mt. (Yellow Pine). That is south of 8/9, but snow was light this year. Maybe. It was in Oregon anyway.

If your original plan is still in effect (leaving in two days), you maybe have updated route info?

    I'd appreciate hearing about it.

    Thanks.
