Sounds like its been a good summer.

Do you have specific plans for the pan?

Any chance you found generator period cases or halves in the shop? Im still looking for a 58-69 big twin right case half.

I wish that my wife was as interested in my hobby as yours is. I've had to pass up three good machines just this year that I've wanted since I was a teenager. At least she's fine with me taking a week or two to ride wherever I want every summer. So there's that.

Im in arkansas for a bit. As most may know, the cannonball was postponed til next year.
So Terry and I decided to put on the Arkansas Musketball
(Its like the cannonball, but smaller)
We invited some people, and it kind of exploded. We have about 35 old bikes here.
I plotted out 4 days of riding, and yesterday was day 1. Its alot of fun so far.

of course being me, we had to do some dirt road riding. Most had fun, a couple people weren't real happy with me, but oh well. I really got a laugh when we had a small water crossing

You arranged the river fording. Who arranged the left turn road to nowhere?

Some of the best roads in the country. Good to see Ryan’s boy getting the full experience.

When I dont have a test light handy to check for live circuits, I just stick a piece of cheese in the wiring and wait.

On my way home, I stopped by an old bike shop and picked up a 39 sport scout and a truckload of Indian parts i dug out of the attic. I had to store them all at Jamies house, as my van was overflowing. I have to go back to arkansas next week to pick up all the bikes and parts I didnt have room for. I need a bigger building. Hahaha

I also got this TT500, its the nicest one I've ever seen. Story is a guy bought 2 of them when new, one for his wife. It was too much for her, and she never rode it. Ill take some better pics after I get it dug out.
Its almost too nice to ride.

if you are talking about this kid, he was a hoot! He had this new helmet, it hurt his head, this is his cure. He figured blisters on his feet were better than a sore head. He bounced around on that Indian for two days. He chose to stay at the house and fish and play with the dogs for a day. He is a polite, great little guy. He was a pleasure to have around. The dogs all took to him, that says a lot in my books!

@rtwdoug , hi Doug, this morning, on my way to Annecy I saw these two HDs at the entrance to the Vercors.
(Having returned a month ago from Turkmenistan, I can't go to Russia, so I'm doing a little tour of France with a new toy).

Hey, that's the bike that taught a 10 year old me that you can indeed be launched over the bars by by a kickstarter!!

Mine kicked back and kicked my knee up under the handle bar.
    Got me coming and going.
The PO, my riding bud, had a big grin on his face, glad to be rid of that big bore thumper.
Got it it squared away after some head scratching.
PO installed a bigger carb, K&N air filter, bigger exhaust pipe , super crapper mini muffler.
It would foul plugs if it did not start up with in the first few kicks.
Turned out the carb slide needed to be reshaped so it did not act like the choke was on all the time.

Before the mod, it would smoke like a brush fire, with only 500 miles on it.
I sent it to the best Yamaha shop around for a new Wisco piston and valve guides.
Got it back and same brush fire. WTF ? ?
Sent it back, they pulled the carb off a flat track bike in their shop with the same set up and noticed the carb slide was a different shape.
They took a rat tail file to the carb slide to match what they had and that is all it took to square it away.

The mechanic started the bike for me before I took it home.
He started it up while wearing jogging shoes.

Just catching up, an FXR and a pan? Man I have to find some of that lucky sage.
I like the Muskett Ball idea that looked like fun. I should try something like that, maybe call it The Snowball.
    Keep on living the dream.
