That is one impressive story. You actually are doing what many people think about... for decades ... and then die.

Hi DCrider, yep apparently we had a 6 on Richter's set of scales about 100 miles away near Antalya. Mind you with the storm that was raging at the time I was hard pressed to hear the Mrs speak let alone feel the earth move.

Being on the southern fault line that runs through Turkey we get quite a few earthquakes with the epicentre usually being out at sea. Had a couple that have rattled the house though :eek1

    Happy New Year :freaky

I've just discovered this thread. Hi.

For a long time I've been wondering about those tracks up behind Gömbe to
Girdev Gölü and onwards to Seki. And also Pozan Gölü, east of Elmalı. Good to see that someone has ridden them.

You appear to be a lot more hardcore than me on the goat tracks - I'm usually solo, so more cautious.

    Hi DavidM1,

    Thanks for your interest.

Appearances can be deceptive. I've usually got a couple of Turkish lads with me to bale me out when ambition exceeds ability.

Yep, there's something magical about the area behind Gombe. Squint, in a dark light, and I can imagine I'm on the KKH, Khyber Pass or lost in the Pamirs. When I regain focus it's nice to know that within an hour I can be back on the coast having had quite enough adventure for one day:D

So you were only half an hour away........

That was on my way fromKaş to Termessos and Karain Cave, returning via Çıralı. I started fairly late and arrived back at Kaş way after dark (did Finike to Demre in about 15 minutes, which was fun! - but then hit reserve and limped up to that petrol station near your junction).

It was a good little Suzuki 350, had a fun ride round Mount Latmos on it as well, occasionally very sandy tracks (Kapıkırı-Sarıkemer-Çavdar-Karpuzlu-Milas).

Next time I go through Kasaba, I'll keep an eye out for any motorbikes there.

    Cheers, David.

    My route that year:

Hey what's bothering you Blaize? Oh I see

Olivier, who normally pilots 737's rocked up on his Ural outfit with his ten year old enfant Zac in the chair :clap

Olivier said au revoir to his job for a year, Zac said much the same to his ecole and off they embarked on an adventure :eek1

Olivier put out a shout on the Horizons Unlimited Kas Community page Kas-Antalya, Turkey | Horizons Unlimited
and who could pass on meeting these guys. Anyway Olivier and Zac had a bite to eat, the dogs had a new playmate in Zac, everyone had a good nights kip and then it was time to hit the road. Not the best of weather but spirits were high:D

    There's a sidecar outfit there somewhere:wink:

Barry and his dad departed Australia, sourced bikes in Ireland and set off to ride across Europe and Africa :eek1 Thwarted by bureaucracy in Egypt they abandoned the trip. Dad flew back to Oz, Barry hung around to sample some Turkish Delights before being sampled by the dogs

...................Barry wanted to do a bit of trailriding, his rather lardy Tenere didn't and down he went in the gloop. :p3rry Luckily Paul needed some exercise so he held it upright while Barry pushed

A snapped gear lever and a blown fuse prevented forward motion. We let Barry sort out his own electrics :kboom

Blue bike bollocksed :cry Time for some fun on the Little Red Pig :clap

    Seems like fun

A quick visit into town the following day resulted in a welded gear lever and a few bits and bobs to tidy up the electrics. Barry had to be out of Turkey in four days so it was time to load up

    and press on

If you see him on the road stop for a chat, he'll brighten up your day :D
