So, I have been getting some questions as to when the DINO Ride is this year. So with Memorial Weekend commitments for me, and the next weekend my last week of school which is a headache. Dino will be June 9,10,11....
    past rides.... http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/dino-ride-time.1057440/
    Dino 17--APPX ROUTE
    [IMG]
Leave the egos and attitudes at the door, this is just for fun. We do not care how good of rider you are, or how fast you go. This is for old and new friends to enjoy a ride in NW Colorado, Utah and Wyoming(about ½ mile is all).

Little to big bike friendly, we have had 250’s to 1200’s and side car rigs. Just be able to have enough gas(190 miles at least) and carry ALL of your gear. DO not count on a sag wagon.

    Tentative Plan

June 8 Gather at my place North of Craig (750 CR 112 Craig CO) lots of room for trucks and trailers if you trailer over. I will have some extra time this year so I will have burgers or brisket or something. Chips, salad, a cooler of tea and water. I will have some basic beer, but if you want more than 1 or 2, bring your own beer, if you travel over by truck with your bike and if you feel like it, you are welcome to add to dinner.

    Porta John will be provided

I will reserve (personally, no mail this year) Echo Park group site for the night of June 9

I will post a link to tracks later, I still need to pre ride a couple sections in the spring to see how they wintered, if they are big bike friendly.

This year the route will be a mix of old a new

June 9 depart Craig 8:30am ish.

Tentative, Craig South over Knez Divide, to Ripple Creek Pass and Down the White River to Meeker, easy county roads, if snow prevents this and Ripple Creek is closed we will do Yellow Jacket Pass.

    Lunch/gas Meeker

Meeker West to Crooked Wash, this is a mix of BLM two track, one water crossing that can be interesting at times, and County Roads. We will hit US 40 for a quick leg to Elk Springs, or maybe leg it for more miles and ride Wolf Creek, or Baking Soda road, then 45 miles to Echo Park(water, toilet and camp). This mostly follows Geeks Crooked Wash tracks, but I may throw some new into this if it winters well.

    June 10

Lots different here. That I will need to pre ride,

For sure- Echo to Blue Mountain to (NOOB Killer if you want, this is not hard, just the name it got a few years ago)Jensen Gas (probably early for lunch)

Tentative -Jensen up Diamond Mountain and then over to Utah 191 and north to Dutch John Utah via forest, highway and county roads(Lunch/gas) Then north through Clay Basin on a mix of BLM and county roads to three corners(Utah, Colo and Wyoming Borders)
and camp at Rocky Reservoir, a BLM campground(no water, so plan ahead, does have bathroom) on Cold Springs/Middle Mountain. But there is some prime brook trout fishing close. There are clear mountain streams and I will have a filter if you get in a bind.

    June 11

Usually this day people break up, depending on plans on getting home.

This is also the day to be aware of gas…

Option 1 County road 10 to 318 and then Maybell to Craig Fastest

Option 2 County road 10 to Craig via misc. 2 track and CR

Option 3 Slowest- CR 10 to Sand wash OHV and the ridge path or Wild Horse Tour

Option 4 If you are riding back to NoCo or Front Range and want some high way twisties—CR 10 the 64 to CR 2 to Baggs Wy

Then Battle Pass, to North Park and Walden

-if you want some small bike trails, ask. There is some fun stuff I can get you to

    Or make up your own

Gas. Need about a 190 mile range, as well as water for the dry camp.

I take NO responsibility for your or your safety. This is a group of friends that are riding each day with a common end point, the routes my have unexpected ruts, mudholes, weather, deer, elk, horses etc.

Cell receptions is limited with lots of areas of NONE

You will be along ways from medical help if you need it. It took better than 2 hours after the SPOT message a few years ago for the sheriff to get to Jim, and the Ambulance COULD not get there. When I broke down 2 yrs ago, it was 3 hours for my son to show up.

You need to be able to fix problems with your bike, fix a flat and if the need arrives have a way to get it out.

You need to find a group to ride with, best if you are less than 10. Each groups should have one person with a SPOT or similar and the GPS tracks.

I will put tracks up on my web page, http://nyoast.weebly.com/ under NEW TRACKS, there will be a heading called DINO 17.

There are some there now BUT I WOULD WAIT until I can pre ride some of this in April to get final routes. I will put the in a Google Earth and Basecamp. I also will ride some Memorial Day weekend; so 3 corners will not be finalized until then. I will have a PC and MAC with basecamp with ALL the tracks at my house.

There MAY be a sag wagon, but if so space is limited.

Cost- How about if you eat, have a beer or two, stay at my place, use the porta john and use the group camp in Echo 10 bucks. Coffee in the morning, breakfast on your own. Pay me when you get here or paypal at normyoast@gmail.com.

I am not a GIS/GPS guru like some of you. I very seldom use one and rely on maps and my nose. SO the tracks are sketched out on Google Earth saved as a kmz. And then I run them through base camp.

Questions, post them up, PM me or email me at the email above. My cell is Nine Seven Zero- 629-5461

I will update the post below with who is in and if they need someone to ride with.

So if you are coming let us all know, tell us what you are riding and if you are a Dino NOOB(do not worry, no de–noobing)

Would be honored to ride this with you and Team Neverlost again, Norm. (did our team have a name that year? :dunno)

Will either be the Africa Twin or the Husky FE501S, most likely the Africa Twin.
AT will have 6.75 gallons, the FE501S will have 5.3.
AT will carry 1.75 Rotopax, so can probably be a tanker for someone in need.

    Norm,
Thank you for putting up with us again. You're way more reliable in organizing this than your bikes and every beginning of the year I'm stalking the threads for the official announcement.
It's official ... going to be a great riding season. Just need to break this baby in :
