    It's not a Lincoln. It's a 1967 Mercury Cougar! :D

Well, the rain quit, and it was kinda dead, so . . .

    cemetery 2.jpg

See! I told you it was kinda dead!

    :hide

Sheree has been wanting to get some pics here, so we figured it was a good time for that. :thumb

    A little music, maestro?

    cemetery 3 piano.jpg

    A Pet Sematary?

    Another angel.

And, on the way home, an old neon sign. I miss neon. There was a real art to it, and it's all been replaced in most places with LEDs and plastic lighted signs. :(

    bergfeld sign.jpg

But, that's about all for tonight.

    See ya next time!

We went from rain yesterday, to sunny and 101º today. :knary

So, we took a trip to the lake for Sheree to have a cool down swim.

But first, a Whitehouse library shot.

    Whitehouse Library.jpg

Then off to the lake! :jkam

    Sheree 2.jpg

Shortly after entering the water, Sheree was attacked by our version of the Loch Ness Monster,

    a turtle! :lol3

    Turtle.jpg

I threw some bread out for it to eat, but I think it was waiting for the fish to come and eat the bread, then get himself a nice fish dinner! :dukegirl

On the way back, we saw a couple of barns that looked interesting. Unfortunately, there wasn't ant good spots to get a clear shot of them.

    A little pink barn . . .

    pink barn.jpg

And an old abandoned metal barn.

    old barn.jpg

And, that was the morning ride.

    More coming up?

    :dunno

    We'll see!

Time for the evening ride! :clap

Tonight started out with a trip to the Dollar Tree again.
While Sheree ran into the store, I was listening to music, and saw . . .

    bird nest.jpg

Yep. A bird's nest. I heard some noises, so maybe someone was home. :dunno

And there was food at the bottom of the tree. Bird food? :hmmmmm

    food.jpg

Maybe the mama bird went to find a can opener?

Anyway, we left there and went to scope out some places for hooliganism. :augie

    Then, off to church! :pope

    First Presbyterian Church.jpg

The sign out front says no bicycles, skateboards, roller skates or scooters. HA! It doesn't say anything about motorcycles! :lol3

Next to the church was this strange tree. :hmmmmm

    strange tree.jpg

Across the street was this mural.

    cotton belt mural.jpg

On the way home, we were confronted with the Corona! :yikes

    More to come . . .

Now, where were we? Oh yeah, CORONA!

Right there, as plain as day, proof of Corona.

    la corona sign.jpg

Good thing it was an old case of the Corona, and has been practically eradicated!

    La corona wide.jpg

Now y'all can throw away your masks, and breathe the free air again! :lol3

We came across one more spot on the way home.

    An old car wash.

    car wash.jpg

Nobody's workin' at the Car Wash.

That coming soon sign has been there for nearly 20 years now, and nothing has ever developed!
Someone does keep repainting it every few years though! :lol3

    Okay, that's it for tonight.

    Keep on riding! :ricky

I had some stuff to take care of at home during the early part of the day, so only one ride today!
The temps were up to 100ºF today, with a heat index of 107º until 5pm, so we waited until 5:15 when the temp had to have cooled off to 99.9º to head out for our ride! :lol3

First we went to make sure that the cows were working hard! Can't have them slacking off now, can we?

    Borden 4.jpg

This place looks like it was built when Elsie was a calf!

    Borden 1.jpg

    Borden 3.jpg

It's still operational, and there's no dairy shortage here!

So, off to find some coke!

    No, not that! :nono
    This isn't the 80's!

    This!

    Coke 1.jpg

    Have a Coke and a Smile! :D

    Coke 3.jpg

Well, 2 places hard at work.

    But no Bar-B-Que here! :(

    BBQ.jpg

So, off we went for further adventures! :pynd

And we ended up on the wrong side of the tracks!

    track bridge 1.jpg

And since @klaviator reminded me of the "Where's Waldo" thread, I got one here!

    track bridge 4.jpg

    Yeah, she's there! :lol3

By the way, when you walk over old bridges with someone, be sure to ask her if she's afraid of heights BEFORE you start across!
    :rofl

    track bridge 7.jpg

It's only 13'10" down. That's not high! :scratch

But I found a better place to get some shots, but first we had to go past this house:

    old house 2.jpg

    And this church:

    CME Church.jpg

This place was across the street:

    old building.jpg

I could have sworn that I saw something moving in the middle window upstairs! Sheree said that if someone was living there, they should open the windows. :knary
I said, "Yeah, but what if they're not living?" :yikes

And with that it was time to make like a tree and get outta there!

Now, it's off to get to the right side of the tracks!

    Literally!

    track bridge 9.jpg

Getting there wasn't too bad, we had to push her back on the railroad gravel to get out!

The things we go through to get some good shots for y'all! :lol3

But, we got out ok, and found a decorative mural thingy on the way back.

    box mural 1.jpg

The lamp post was nice too!

    box mural 2.jpg

And that about does it for tonight.

The sun was starting to set into the west, and the temps were already dropping to a chilly 98º so we figured we should get back before it snowed on us! :jack

    Till next time y'all!

Today was spent waiting instead of riding. :fitz

We listed the parts I took off the bike for sale, and the buyer came in from Ft. Worth to buy the stuff.
16" ape hangers, grips, throttle cables, clutch cable, brake line, sissy bar, and license plate side mount bracket.

    $125

    bike parts.jpg

Then, I used part of the money and treated Sheree to DQ for dessert. :dukegirl

    dq treats.jpg

    And that's it for today!

Today's early trip was running errands, and getting some all-thread so that I can get my new set of forward controls on with the new rear master cylinder. (My originals are all buggered up, and the PO welded the brake rod to the master cylinder rod! :jerko )
Anyway, I'll get that job done real soon. :nod

Tonight, we went out to find some interesting stuff, and it worked! :clap

    We saw an old barn.

    barn side.jpg

    And an old abandoned motel. ( "Norman . . ." :hack )

    motel 2.jpg

This one had a really cool front with a wrought iron balcony at one time, and then it collapsed, and they tore it down. :(

    old building.jpg

And we got a shot of the ET Islamic Center and Mosque.

    mosque.jpg

They even had 3 US flags flying out front! :thumb

And there were a couple of old vehicles.

    A 60's GMC bus.

    old bus.jpg

    And a 60's Mustang! :super

    Mustang 1.jpg

That was our treasure hunt for tonight.

Thanks for stoppin' in, and we hope y'all enjoyed it. :beer

Today was pretty much another errand running day, going to the stores and getting a few things.
We use the bike for most of that stuff lately, so lots of those rides, and not many pics there.

    It's basically the same everywhere:

    mask sheep.jpg

So, let's focus on some other things . . .

    Parts!

    parts.jpg

I couldn't get the pieces that I wanted to fix my stock 1200c forward controls, so I bought another kit.

No instructions for putting it together, but real men don't need them anyway! :deal :nono :gdog
Here's a rough assembly of the parts.

    together.jpg

When I got the new master cylinder, it didn't come with the plunger rod.

    brake rod plunger end.jpg

So I ordered one, thinking that I would need it for the kit, but after looking at everything, I realized that the threaded rod should go right into the master cylinder plunger end.

    brake rod short.jpg

But, it was still too short. :hmmmmm

So, I just bought a bigger one!

    big rod.jpg

    :eek2

This will take a little fixing!

    :evil

Alright, lets get to work! :whip

    First we measure.

    cut 1.jpg

    Get ready to cut!

    cut 2.jpg

You may notice the safety guard is removed. :brow

    Yep, safety third! :lol3

But don't worry, I don't have eye protection or shoes on either! :D

Sorry for the poor quality of the pics. Cell phone, semi dark area, trying to capture sparks with one hand, and make them with the other! :patch

    Let the sparks fly!

    sparks 1.jpg

    sparks 2.jpg

    sparks 3.jpg

Next, clean up the rough edges, and test fit . . .
