    Time to make more sparks!

    grind 1.jpg

A few more just for the camera!

    grind 2.jpg

And now we see how it works! :deal

    compare.jpg

    Much better! :nod

    And together.

    brake assy.jpg

I think this just might work!!! :yikes

    :lol3

    But that's it for today.

May be riding with my daughter tomorrow if the weather holds.

    Till next time folks!

Alright, Wednesday was riding with my daughter day, and no pics. I was going through some weird moods for a few days where I wasn't really feeling up to pictures. Even riding wasn't as fun as usual. :nah

Today, I went back to work on the new controls. :thumb

Here are some before and after shots.

    First, the before shots.

    Shifter side before:

    old shifter.jpg

    Brake side before:

    old brake.jpg

Now, here's the problem I was having:

    welded unit.jpg

    weld 1.jpg

    weld 2.jpg

Yeah, the rod is supposed to unbolt from the master cylinder. :dirtdog

What kind of jackass welds a replaceable object in place? :mulie

I couldn't even find a replacement rod that had the right bends, so I bought the full control kit!

As you will see in the next post, it worked out pretty well!

Ok, here are the after pics.

    The new shifter setup:

    new shifter.jpg

I reused my old connecting rod. It seems stronger than the one with the kit.

    Here's the brake side:

    New master cylinder:

    new m:c.jpg

    And the new pedal:

    new brake 1.jpg

I was able to adjust the brake pedal height to suit me, thanks to my custom made connecting rod! :D

    new brake 2.jpg

And I can still adjust it even more when I get better use of my broken foot.

    new brake rod.jpg

Now, I can actually lock up the rear brake! :yikes I don't know how long it's been since I had a bike that I could lock the rear brake on!

On my test ride, it did really well. I'm very happy with the way it works now. :nod

After I was sure everything was working good, Sheree had me take her to the store.

On the way home, we got a picture of the fountain at UT Tyler. (The University of Texas at Tyler)

Today was the first day they had it going fully since the Covid shutdowns.

    fountain 2.jpg

And that was about it for today. A hot, sweaty day of bike work, with an evening reward ride! :ricky

    Till next time y'all!

We did a bit more exploring today, and found more stuff that we hadn't seen before.
How could we live here for 25 years and never see these things? :dunno

I guess riding a motorcycle does really make you more aware of your surroundings! :nod

Anyway, we found more art. :0-0

We found some abandoned buildings . . .

    Little pink houses again? :scratch

    Something else?
I don't know what it was, but it ain't now! :lol3

The old Garage Bar was kinda hip for a while. I think we lost most of our Hipsters though. :dunno

And then we went to jail!

    Now, where were we?

    Oh yeah, jail!

    jail cell 1.jpg

That's an actual jail cell from the Smith County Jail of 1881.

    Here's Sheree in the jail.

    Sheree in jail.jpg

    Those are her fingertips! :lol3

This is the open cell. 2 bunks on each side.

And that was the end of our life of crime for the day! :lol3

We found a place to go if you're hungry. :dukegirl

    Sum 2 Eat.jpg

Yep. If you get hungry, you can get Sum 2 Eat there! :lol3

We also came across an unusual building downtown.

    building round top.jpg

And an old service station that is now a bus station with a direct trip to Mexico! :bandit

Now, we've come to the end of today's explorations.

    :asta

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Last night I noticed some noises coming from the bike that I didn't like. :ear

    Broken! :dirtdog

    :grim

    Grenade.

    :2cry

    Here's what it looks like.

    all clutch stuff.jpg

    Problem part.

    grenade spring.jpg

And I lost my balls! :yikes

    no balls.jpg

The basket looks fine, so I'm glad about that! :happay

    basket ok.jpg

I just have to get more parts, and she'll be back! :wings

I made my own clutch puller instead of spending $70 on one.

Steering wheel/pulley puller center piece, 3 x 3/8 grade 8 bolts, nuts and washers, and the adjuster nut from the Sporty clutch.

Really like the latest explorations. All this time of following your meanderings, had me wondering if I had stayed in Tyler or Longview. Now, I believe it was Tyler. Maybe you can verify. I stayed on my 2016 adventure. Tyler was my get away from the east destination for the day.

You've covered a lot of the ground I have with that Connie!

Pretty sure I'd lose a license faster than that bike got to 100 mph.

Thinking real hard about another one. Still recall the two main reasons why I let it go, but the C14 is great at long distance riding.

Oh yeah. The AT stays. Really like that bike. It does well with Jeep trails, local riding, and long mile days acceptably. Reminds me of having a pick-up truck. The perfect just in case vehicle. My choice of tires are off-road oriented and do not last long on pavement--so, the reason for a road bike like the C14. A '18+ Goldwing is an equal possibility too.

That looks like it could be here. I can't be sure since a lot has changed since 2016.

    Well folks,

Gloriana Rides Again! :clap :ricky :thumb

I just took a late ride tonight to see how Gloriana (GL1000) was going to do, and got a few photos.
Most of these are destined for the "Same Spot, Different Bike" thread. :nod

    First stop, the Oil Palace.

    Oil Palace.jpg

Next, I stopped to get the abandoned barns.

    barns revisit.jpg

Then, I came across a biker that was stranded beside the road. I stopped to see if he needed help, but he was just out of gas, and a friend of his was on the way with some extra fuel. :thumb

So, as I went down the road, I saw this barn/stable. Usually, there are horses there, but not today. :(

    horse stable.jpg

    Off to another old barn.

    old barn revisit.jpg

And finally a shot of the Whitehouse Community Library.
For some reason, I kinda like the lens flare on this shot. :dunno

    Whitehouse Library revisit.jpg

That was it for her shakedown/test ride. She did well, so you may just be seeing more of her! :thumb

    Till next time folks!

You posted this pic over 5 years ago in my "You Only Live twice" thread. Is this an old pic of Gloriana?

Yes, that's her. I've had her for 10 years now.

That pic is on page 1 of this thread, too. I posted it May 8, 2011.
She's still alive and kickin' even though she hasn't been extremely reliable. I hope to fix that. :nod

It will be really nice to have 2 reliable bikes, and then just have to decide which one to ride each day! :thumb

BTW @klaviator I think your scooter virus is starting to hit Sheree. We saw one the other day at the Dollar Tree, and she said, "I could see myself riding one of those. I probably wouldn't be able to keep up with you though."
I told her that you ride them all over, and have no problem riding with and keeping up with other people.

She's been hinting around about riding her own bike for a little while now. :hmmmmm

    We'll see.
