These are the Showa shocks from an older touring HD. I found out that the 80's Goldwings used the same shocks, but whereas Harley says they are not rebuildable, Showa and Honda say that they are. :augie

I put them on since I ride mostly 2-up, and they work perfectly for us. :nod

Great looking Cougar there, DRC. That's a massive snow event for TX.
I was living in Houston in '72 when it snowed there. (Full disclosure, I was still a tricycle motor)
Abs-so-lute mayhem in our cul de sac.
Kids running around with sleds, and scraping up the 1" on the ground and making snow men.
Love the batt'ry box stickers. MIR?
Such a neat VFD building, too.

No, these have been here for a while, but who knows, they may end up here since this is a big cat rescue/refuge/sanctuary. It was started in the mid 90's after the exotic animal fad of the 80's and 90's.

    Cal Worthington really started something.

Some of the things that I forgot to mention in the original post:
    1. The "incident" was real, not something I added to embellish the story. Sheree was wondering about that.
    2. Sheree didn't even know that I went anywhere until she read the post! :lol3
    3. Sheree texted me while I was taking the first picture of the single tiger. The others heard the notification and came to check out the noise! :lol2
    4. While all the other visitors were leaving, I stopped to pet the little donkey, and got locked in! :lol3 I had visions of Jurassic Park going through my head! :D They finally had someone let me out though.

I would really like to go back sometime. It seems like a pretty cool place, and self-guided tours are free, so I could take my time for photos.

There are some other places that I've got planned, too. I'm trying to keep y'all from getting too bored! :D

The battery box stickers are the ADV logo, and the other is from my favorite TV show, Firefly. Also where the bike's name came from.

My daughter made a snow seal that night.

People will always find ways to have fun with snow, no matter how much, or how little. :-)

Was thinking the same thing. How many states over was this "ride?"

It was just a bit north of me. Another one of those hidden backyard treasures! :thumb

Ok, I figured that I owe y'all some pictures. :D

Everyone seems to like abandoned places, and we came across this one tonight by accident.

    abandoned house.jpg

It's by the back parking lot behind the old Wal Mart ( from the pre-Super Center days).

And Sheree liked the reflection in this pond.

    reflection in pond.jpg

Our trees are just beginning to show some fall colors, so I'll be making a trip to get some pics soon. :thumb

I also just got the clutch mount/perch tonight, so I still need to get that installed, too.

But, that's about it for now.

    Till next time y'all.

Today was just fixing the clutch day.

    The new/used part looks different.

    clutch perch.jpg

Broken on the left, unbroken on the right.

Took it for a test ride, and it works much smoother now. :nod
We just took a trip to the Family Dollar, but no pics. Sheree did buy a snack for the stray dog that was hanging around. :thumb

    Anyway . . .

Now, we're good to go again, so maybe some fall colors soon! :wings

    But, that's it for today.

    Till next time y'all.

I took a trip to search for fall colors, but it was a bit disappointing. :(
There still isn't much in the way of fall colors, but I got some good stuff anyway.

I took the first trip alone because Sheree didn't want to take a highway trip.

First stop was the Mt. Selman Methodist Church.
I thought it was a nice small town, country looking church.

    Front view.

    Here's the rear view.

And here's one for the fans of abandoned buildings. :nod

This valley will be full of color soon. I was just hoping to catch some for y'all today.

    Lookout Mountain.jpg

Later, Sheree and I went back out and did find a bit more color.

    fall colors 1.jpg

    More.

    fall colors 2.jpg

    And even a little more.

    fall colors 3.jpg

    That's about it for today.

We'll keep looking out for more. :thumb

    Till next time y'all.

    That's the place. :thumb

The valley is at a place called Love's Lookout, a.k.a. Lookout Mountain, just north of Jacksonville. :nod

It was a favorite place of mine when I traveled a lot. I would always try to catch the fall colors there.

We finally got another nice riding day today, so we set out to find another pecan picking location.

    And failed! :(

Since ending it here would be a stupid post . . . :dirtdog

I'll get with the good stuff!

We were able to find a good place to take a few pictures! :D

This is the McClendon House living history museum. (More info here: https://mcclendonhouse.net/ )

    It was built in 1878.

    McClendon House.jpg

    They have a gazebo.
    Sheree says hi!

    Sheree on gazebo.jpg

    There's a barn/stable around back.

    McClendon barn.jpg

And I believe these are the servants quarters?

    McClendon small house.jpg

And I don't know what this little cabin was for, but it looked pretty cool.
Maybe just a storage building? :dunno

    McClendon cabin.jpg

It was a nice place, but no one was there. (Closed for Covid? :confused )

So we left there and headed home.

We stopped to get a shot of this flower shop window mural. Sorry for the bad quality, but the sun was starting to set behind the building.

    flower shop mural.jpg

And just so that the pecan picking wasn't a total loss, we hit the old spot and got a few more. :nod

    That's it for today.

    Till next time y'all!

What's the temps down there ratt now?
Couple of us just did 200 mile R/T Grab n Tags up here in Cackilacky today. Mid November and pushing 70F! I'll take it. It's just weird being this warm so late. Having said that, after four PM up here the sun does a nose dive and it cools off quick like.

Today was in the upper 70's or low 80's. Tomorrow should be back to the mid to upper 60's. That's about normal here. It usually doesn't get cold except for maybe a month or so in the winter.

Well, not a lot of color changes yet.
Half the trees are still green, half are brown, and half are empty. Crazy. :loco
(Just like my math skills! :lol3 )

I took a ride to the lake to see if there was any color to be found.

Someone was having fun with their bass boat. :-)

    lake 1.jpg

Here's the lake from another view.

    lake 2.jpg

As you can see, not much in the way of colorful leaves.

So, that's the update for now.

    Till next time y'all.

Gotta hand it to you, DRC, you have an eye for making common everyday things an interesting subject, things that we often just roll on by and don't give a second look. Of course, having an amazing motorcycle in the picture makes it all the more better! :ricky
