Then, we looked for some more art! :0-0

    It says "Taking Over."

    taking over.jpg

And it appears to be by the same person/group that has done a lot of other murals around here.

Leaving there, we saw this nice old church.

    old church.jpg

From there, on the way home, we checked up on the National Guard Armory. I was hoping for some free samples! :evil

    They have big guns! :nod

Sheree said I had balls for riding up there, and I said, "Yep. Cannonballs!"

    :rofl

    Till next time y'all!

Seeing your Hood Armory pictures in the Cannon thread, I was wondering about getting the bike closer, then I see these. :thumb

There was no ride yesterday. I had vertigo or something really bad, so I didn't want to chance crashing again. :nono

But, today, I was doing better, so more rides!

First though, a new piece of moto gear:

    Serenity Hat.jpg

No advertising for the MoCo there! :lol3

    Time for gas?

    Not here!

    gas station 1.jpg

    Not here either!

Maybe we'll have better luck finding food! :dukegirl

    Or not?

    abandoned mex restaurant.jpg

At least we know what they used to have.

    menu graffitti.jpg

So, we go searching for more goodies!

    In the next post! :nod

    Well, I'm back!

Today started with a trip to Chandler, a neighboring town that we haven't rode out to before.
More highway practice riding for Sheree, so we got a few pics while we were there.
You didn't think we'd forget that did you? :nono

First, a mural on the back of the Chandler Country Store.

    Chandler Country Store mural.jpg

If we would have been there 10 minutes later, a train would have photobombed us! :lol3

And a water tower shot to prove we were there!

    Chandler water tower.jpg

    And the old water tank.

    Chandler water tank.jpg

That was it for the morning ride. I was having a rough time mentally, so we headed back.

This evening started with a trip to Aldi to get a few groceries. :dukegirl

    And then . . .

You thought we crashed again, didn't you?

    Nope.

    flat 2.jpg

    Looks kinda mushy! :dirtdog

Definitely something missing . . . like air!

    flat 1.jpg

At least I won't have any problem getting the tire loose from the rim this time!

    rim tire.jpg

So, Serenity gets the ride of shame! :(

We're back home, thanks to Flo Tow and Crow! :lol3

    Tomorrow, tire fixin' time again!

Your having some bad luck with tires this year! Think it just picked something up?

Yeah, I've had more tire problems on this bike than I've had on my past 12 bikes, but the Sportster is still the most reliable bike I've ever had! :D

I think I probably ran over something, but I'll know for sure later. Last time it was a piece of chrome from the inside of the rim that caused the puncture.

    This time? :dunno

I took the tire off, and couldn't find any objects in the tire itself. :dunno

The tube has a small 1/8" split on the outer seam. :hmmmmm
I'll get a pic tomorrow. For today, I just put on a new tube, and got it all back together.

The heat and humidity was brutal! I was going to try to patch the tube, but I was getting so much water on it, I wouldn't trust it to bond!

Now, I'll have 2 patched spares, and hopefully won't be needing them any time soon!

Proof that we went for a ride tonight.

A boot parking only sign? :hmmmmm Forget that!

    boot.jpg

    And a water tower pic.

    tower.jpg

Yeah, not too interesting, but it has . . .

    A SHRUBBERY!

I was wondering why you didn't just plug it. I'd put a tubeless tire on it and carry a plug kit.

Yeah, there is no rim bead to hold the tire like a normal tubeless rim has.

If I tried to go without a tube, the rim is too corroded and deteriorated to seat properly. Last time, a piece of the chrome from the inside of the rim came loose and put a hole in the tube.

Maybe a rim from a newer model might work? :hmmmmm
The cost might be prohibitively high though. Tubes and patches are cheap! :nod

I do need to get a small compressor to carry on the bike.

I've heard that Slime makes a good, small one.:dunno

    Any suggestions?

Maybe get the wheel rechromed or get the inside stripped and painted?

To not have to deal with tubes, I'd be finding a tubeless solution.

Heck, I bought a Harley rim years ago at a pawn shop in excellent condition for $100. Somebody had swapped to a different custom set. Figured you may find a great take off for little coin.

I resold it for a profit.

I thought about stripping the chrome and going with polished aluminum, and a clear coat. That still won't make it tubeless though.

A good set of tire/tube repair tools is a must. Right now, I just have a couple of Motion Pro long levers, but they've been working well.
Plus, I use tire lube, no more soap and water for me!

    That stuff is a Godsend!

I’ve been using this for awhile, small and light and pretty inexpensive it also works well.

Today's first ride was just to CVS Pharmacy. Nothing to see there.

On the way back, we got a mural on the side of East Texas Paint.

    paint man mural.jpg

And here's a shot of that pesky hole in the tube.

    tube hole.jpg

I'll patch it and keep it around as a spare. It lasted about 1500 miles.
Still need to get some good new ones too. :nod

Maybe this one was just old. I don't know how long that one was sitting in someone's warehouse. :dunno

The hole being on the seam isn't good. Maybe more of a tube failure than from outside forces.

That's what I was thinking. I don't know if tubes have a date on them like tires do though? It may have got a weak spot by being folded in a box for decades? :dunno

I didn't see anything poking through the tire, and the only thing inside was a very tiny piece of stone or something. Less than 1/16".

    Tonight, another CVS trip. :scratch

But we saw some stuff on the way this time.

    An interesting church. :pope

    An abandoned block.

    An abandoned house.

    abandoned house.jpg

And a water tower. Probably the oldest in Tyler.

    Sheree wanted this shot.

    tower dg.jpg

But, being me, I have to find a closer shot! :lol3

    tower close.jpg

We were going to try for more fun stuff on the way back, but we ran into a "peaceful protest" where the police had the roads blocked so that folks can scream "F--- the Police" and other vile crap.

They have a right to make noise, but so do I, and I exercised my right by weaving between the stopped cars and finding a way to get out of there in the other direction, loudly! ( Remember my pipes?! :D )

    So, that's it for today.
