Changing the handle bars wont help its my size 14 feet and the seat foot peg distance that's the issue and if I changed the bars it wouldn't be original

There are a few brands of aftermarket footboards that would move your feet down and forward....problem is, you lose cornering clearance...which is why i never put them on my 83

Not quite as tall as you at 6'1" but also found the seating a bit cramped on my GL1200A. What I did was get a second seat pan and redo the padding. Moved the hump back 6" and added padding to raise the seat height. [IMG]

    This did help.

I've always wanted a 4 cyl era one. I think my favorites might be the 1100/1200 interstate era as they just look so retro 80's in a good way.

It would be a 1200 for me, I often think about getting another one but I have too many bikes already

I still miss my 1100 Interstate. It's the one bike I really regret not putting the money into and keeping it.

I still like my '78 GL1000, but it is not very reliable compared to my '97 Sportster.

Having owned and worked on one for 2 years, and spent a lot of money, blood, sweat, and tears on it, I HIGHLY recommend staying FAR away from the 1985 LTD and 1986 SEi. Those models use an analog EFI system which, while it probably worked well when they were new, are absolutely impossible to find parts for anymore. They were only made for 2 years, and have a LOT of very specific parts that are completely different from the carbureted Goldwings.

there were many, many complaints by the owners back then. today low mileage ones can be found since they were never used much. new owners just rip out the FI system and put in the carb system.
