Hey,I'm Nik from Belgium (Europe) and this is my first report. This summer I've been riding in Central-Italy. In the Abruzzi region to be correct. A beautifull wild region just an hour from Rome. To get there I rode about 2000km, that's about 1300miles???. The first 400k's are quite boring beceause I took the German Autobahn. Ofcourse you can test the top-speed of your bike. Wich isn't to high if you're riding an Yamaha XTR. I managed to get 172 out of the enduro. But following the autobahn is a sweeping, curvy fast ride true German, Austrian and Italian alps. The roads where so good and the scenery so beautiful I forgot to take pictures. Out of the Alps you come true the boring Po-plain. Full of industry and not the most beautifull country roads of the country. But happelly, it's just a small part of Italy. And before you know it, you are burning rubber on perfect asphalt in the hills and mountains. So after two days I arrived in Rosseto where I camped. From here on, I got of the bigger twisting roads and kicked in lower gear to get extra tork on the steep roads. Exploring the backcountry of Rosseto I discovered beautiful roads in all sorts of make. Asphalt to pure rock. In the mountains there are several pistes where you can go fast and several pistes who nurve breaking difficult and dangerous. The people are fantastic, and most help you finding the most beautifull dirt road. But, if you go there, be ware, a big part of Abruzzi is National Park, and Park Rangers are plenty and don't like it when you go really offroad. Here are some pictures. Up on Campo Imperatore Taking a look over the mountains. Gran Sasso You're not alone!!! somewhere in the mountains not so far from the Adriatic. I know, the Calibier is not in Italy, but I drove over it going home. Col d'Agnello, +2700m going in to France. The high plain of Castelucho. A little mountain town you see in the background. tipical Abruzzi country. Another one from the Castellucio plain. On top of a mountain in the Gran Sasso National Park The old lift to Campo imperatore. Meeting locals on Campo Imperatore The rest of the pictures will follow soon!!!
