    Downieville.Daze! July 23-26, 2020!
These are the dates (Thurs-Sun) I'm planning to ride.

We will be camping in the Packsaddle CG on Packer Lake Rd. If you need an improved campsite reserve here. If you are planning to truck motos+tent, you can stay in one of our sites & park truck in overflow. Subject to $5/night extra vehicle fee & you should contribute to the site costs.

If you want to dry camp for FREE, many spots further up the road towards the trails. :-)

You can make CG reservations 6 months in advance of your 1st nights stay. So today, Jan. 22 I reserved site # 9 for July 22-26.

If arriving July 23-whatever, you can reserve on Jan. 23rd. Etc...

Way more discussion & I suspect a pre-ride or two as we get closer. Just a reminder for CG reservations at this time.

    BRAAAP! :-)

    Not quite. (https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/234535/availability)

Sites 3, 4, & 16 are still available this morning. Site 13 will be available to reserve for Saturday night (25th) & beyond on Jan.25.

    They're going FAST!

    Catfish ...

PS: Sites 1 & 14 are 1st come 1st serve only & not reserve-able. One or both have been open on Wed. or Thursday in previous years.

As of right now, only site 4 remains available.

I am willing to share my site #5 with a tent dweller. I DON'T have room for another vehicle but my site is quite close to overflow parking.

Although technically against the rules, I have seen people sleep in their vehicles while parked in overflow. You just need to do it on the sly.

Sorry its a small & popular CG. That's why I gave a preview of when to reserve on last year's thread. The Lakes Basin CGs are preferred in summer to the lower elevation CGs along CA49 & Downieville.

Each camp site can have 2 vehicles & 6 people. We don't have to count motos as vehicles if they arrived in truck/van. :-)

If you wanna ride in & tent camp, we should have room for you.

If you want to drive in with dirtbike & tent in truck, we should have room for you. And room for your truck in LARGE overflow parking lot. ($5/night)

My site # 9 has 2 vehicles & 2 folks so far. 4 more could tent at my site & park motos. Once we get the others of our group to speak up with sites reserved & head counts, we'll know how many more we can handle at Packsaddle CG. It will be several.

Many lodging & camping options along CA-49 from below Downieville to Bassetts Station. Google & pick.

On Packer Lake Road, there is the Sardine Lake CG, Diablo CG, & Berger CG before Packsaddle CG. Diablo & Berger are all 1st-come 1st-serve sites.

Beyond Packsaddle CG & Packer Lake is Tahoe Nat. Forest & you can dry camp where you like for FREE. Here's the closest good spot to Packsaddle. Zoom in to "County Route 621" waypoint closely to see side road.

Like Catfish said, our group has plenty of tent space available in our sites.

My mom and dad are in site #13 for Thursday, Friday and its open Saturday night. If your tent camping, someone in our group will have a space for you and if you wanted, you could reserve 13 for Saturday night. Mom and Dad may have space in their area and I'm sure they would be fine with it.

Very cool of you to offer thank you. If they're ok with it I'm happy to split the cost with them.

    Thanks,

They are good with it. There’s a flat spot to pitch a tent in that site if I remember correctly. Don’t forget to reserve Saturday night as they are leaving Saturday morning. Sean
