Thanks guys I will take everything you guys said into account. If I can find one I want to ride around the US this summer. As for my trip through South America, I am on the Epic Rides forum, look for THE LONG WAY HOME.

That is how I stumbled here, I wondered if I could find advice on here.........go figure.

I think I might've found a winner too, keep you guys posted!!!

    Excellent! :wings
We are happy to help :beer
Are you aware of the BIG DR thread HERE?
This thread is mostly just pictures of the DR. :jkam

The main DR thread is where we discuss anything and everything, sometimes even DR stuff. :thumb
Any question you have will get multiple replies, helpful and all nicely worded.

No "Do a search" replies, no making fun of someone that doesn't know everything. :hide
It is a very unusual thread because of the nice people who follow it.
Most who post pictures here are also posting on the main DR thread.

We kid new owners about reading the thread from the beginning, all 12,962 pages with 259,220+ posts. :yikes
But we are happy to answer the same questions every new owner asks because we were a new owner at some point asking those questions. :scratch

Even the little camper is old school carnival vintage. Imagine all the history behind this act ?

That's where Corina lives with her pet squirrel :-) She owns a house she rents out and her other business is leather works (she makes seats and has done all of Billy Joel's bikes evidently) that she has based out of a shipping container. She parks that camper beside the shipping container when she's not doing the Wall and that's home. Carnival is a good word.

Sweet old automobile I came across in my wanderings. I wonder how much of our area this old beast covered back in the day.

I hit a high traffic oil field road where they are pretty serious about slowing down the traffic. The Bakken was winding down some but it appears business is picking back up with oil prices back up the the $75/bbl mark. The increased traffic is bringing out the county deputies so it's cutting into my travel speed. Most county roads are 35mph and that's a hard speed to ride on nice roads. :lol3

    Afternoon ride yesterday.
My wife is renting a lakeside cabin this week, so my usual two blocks by bicycle commute has morphed into 25 miles, about half of which is on a rail trail. It’s kind of the perfect commute.

Its all about the dewpoint and " Feels Like Temp " Especially if you are not moving and in direct sun.

If you stop and hike alot, you need to plan it for shade or breeze once the temp gets up there. Once it hits 80, Im done. No more stopping, just keep riding toward home and shade to get it over with. Best is between 50 and 68.

As a former resident at a few different places like that, I know the story all too well. Best and only decent option in those situations was dawn patrol and then plan to be back home by 10 AM.

Its alot more flexable here. If you can stay in the shade between 2 to about 6 PM on the 80 degree days, I can be out for a nice 10 or 12 hour day. I simply plan to be fishing in the shade or at a nice tavern for that afternoon hot stretch. Just a little planning and not fighting the heat when its at the worst part of the day.

Not a issue if you get a cloudy day or it never tops the low 70's.
