What's with the guard rails? I'm used to seeing barbed wire fences in roads like that, but never guard rails.

It goes to a remote oil well location. Usually you will see these where there is a sharp drop off. This scene sure doesn't look that bad to me, so my only other thought is so drivers can see where the road is when deep snow hits. Hell, I don't know...

    Hi folks

I'm busy reviewing my new-to-me DR's fairing setup.

The previous owner made one that has a very similar shape to one I saw in a recent POTW (https://advrider.com/potw-inmate-photos-of-the-week-24-21/) and I noticed the clamps used
could improve on the current cable tie system in place.

The detail is a bit small, but slight zoom:

Would appear to me to be a p-clamp and maybe two plates to extend from the clamp to the fairing?
    ---
Any ideas suggestions what these are and where I might find the correct size?
Around here I can find 40 and 50mm, but the fork diameter is 43mm ...

I reached out to the owner of that yellow bike, but haven't had a response.

I wish I could help but I can’t really other than offering the idea to wrap the fork tubes with tape and use the bigger clamp but that’s not what I’d want. Maybe post the question here as well https://advrider.com/f/threads/the-dr650-thread.135295/page-13158#post-42994954.

Google "ADEL CLAMPS". There used in the Aviation World. They go by inch size.

On my first ride just went east out of the city and found vineyards, which is very unusual ( I thought ) for this part of the country ( Pretoria )

Just another great day or riding out in the middle of BFE Nevada. The view where I've been and the road where I am going... 20210915_134415.jpg 20210915_134149.jpg

    September 15 2021.

The summer is over ! :clap

Maybe 4 weeks till first snow.

All the kiddies are back in school, summer tourists are gone, working stiff's are back at their grinds, and life is " Highly " enjoyable on the back routes around Weed Town.

Oh wow, it's cool to see how far ahead you are. The fall colors thread is starting to heat up too.

Its only like that in a few area's right now. Next week will be a big blast of fall color for sure. Tops of ski area's are startin to turn good, and all grasses down low are browning off the tops.

I will ride when I can and try to score some autumn shots. Tires are pretty shot on the DR, and Im not inspired to change em right now, gotta pick and choose the routes over the next few weeks in between all the property work before first overnight freezes start happening.

I think I'm about a month behind you, maybe 3 weeks. Dead leaves are just starting to show up on the ground at elevation but no real signs of color. It's one of my favorite times of the year for sure.
