2004 KTM 450 EXC Acerbis front fender: http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p...ody&webTypeId=24&webCatId=10&prodFamilyId=175
I use screen from scooter-vespa ( X9 ), made some brackets and Voalllaa....works perfect,I can open my visor and no wind coming to my eyes....can light up a cigarette riding it.
Older Acerbis headlight unit. I mounted it high for my torches and to keep the wind off my chest. Trying to run without a dedicated windscreen. Simpliflying my setup. I drop it every so often and every little bit off weight removed is helpful. FWIW I don't spend a lot of time on highways.

Front fender from 2009 Yamaha YZ250f. I re-drilled the holes to shift the fender about 1/2" forward to clear the frame/oil cooler on the back end.
Here's my version of what I need to protect all the gear that I want to mount behind a windscreen. There's a few more pictures in here if you're interested.
I put 1/2" spacers under my Screensforbikes and it smoothed out the airflow in the cockpit noticeably.
I'm now using and loving a Madstad screen (18" CR in light smoke). http://www.madstad.com/s.nl/sc.7/category.1921/.f I can adjust if any angle and height i want and achieve ideal airflow for me! A must do IMO if you do any long tours on your DR. I can see over top just fine and it's out of the way when i stand up for rougher sections. I went with light smoke so i could still see some down through it if need be. Kept my FZ1 screen i had bolted to the stock light shield and cut out notches so the Turbo City brackets passed through. Going to get some hand-tighten bolts so i can quickly remove the Robobrackets and shield all at once for more hardcore riding.
Update: Played with my screen angle and height for the smoothest position for wind @ my helmet. I tried alot of variations as the robo-brackets move every way possible. In the end, I raised it some and angled it back a bit more that the 60 degree Madstad talks about. The bottom is more open for air to pass underneath too and this makes it very nice going down the road. Having a vstrom and madstad bracket, it's also the same bottom open angle that works on that bike too. it may look a little funny but sure does it work well. Nothing but calm air on my chest and head. Of course there is air leaking in from the side but it's not a goldwing. If you spend alot of time on paved roads with your DR this might be the ideal screen solution. I can see over it just fine for off-road work and the whole bracket / screen can come off quickly with 4 bolts/nuts if need be. (update: changed over to thumb nuts so I can do this by hand in minutes)
I installed a small MRA bar-mounted windscreen from Twitsed Throttle that just keeps the wind off my chest & can be tilted up/down for colder/warmer days.
+1 for the Parabellum windscreen. Just finished a 600 mile road trip on my DR650 after installing a 25 inch screen (I'm 6'2"). I can see over the top of the screen and was getting a little head buffeting until I adjusted the bottom attachment points inward making the screen a little more vertical. No buffeting afterward; the clear air was just brushing the top of my helmet. From the vendor, the Parabellum uses locknuts to fasten the windscreen to the mounting brackets, but I substituted lockwashers under the bolt heads and threaded knobs ($3.60 each at Ace Hardware) for the locknuts so that I can detach the windshield quickly to ride offroad. It worked great maybe took 2 minutes to detach and reattach the windshield. Here are some pics:
