Looking for some help from those who might have done this... I am going to call Customs on both sides, but sometimes what they say on the phone and what happens at the border are a little different...

I recently purchased a used GSA and am doing a fly/ride home pick-up - Des Moines to Portland Maine. Was thinking about taking a route through Canada, but will be on “Transit Plates” - intended to get from one location to another for registration in home state. Wondering how Canadian/US customs would handle crossing the border and if anything extraordinary would be required? Trying to avoid the “slab” and traffic around Chicago and lakes area.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

I rode from Los Angeles to Atlanta, Atlanta to Trans Lab anticlockwise. Across Canada from Quebec to Alberta. Down to Cabo San Lucas.....back to Los Angeles.....all on a CAR DEALER PLATE fixed to a motorcycle. No one said a thing. I had the plate registration. I do believe you will be fine.
