Is it possible to put dual fans on a 950 ADV?
the EXC fan's can be fit nicely to the right hand side.
and.. everything is possible :)
I guess what I mean is, is there room on the opposite side of the existing fan?
I dont think an ADV fan will fit... but an EXC one will ....
The EXC fan did not fit my 950. Does anyone know what fan will fit?
What type of Adventure is that? It fit's nicely on mine
That fan Pyn put on his 950 is off a 2005 450 EXC ... (I know because my 450 EXC is missing a fan ... )
I used an 06 EXC fan kit. It has a shroud on it & that's probably why.

O.K., cool, pun intended...but how doe the fan assy actually attach to the rad?
There is some discussion on it in Pyn's thread - I asked the same question.
They are a zip-tie-like thing (you can, in fact use a zip tie) passed through the fins of the rad.
Kenlowe Fans (in the UK) are the company that do the ties you see in the pic above.
Parts store should have, Autozone did, use for mounting trans coolers, etc on cars/trucks. Come pack of 4 round zip tye(similar) with mount pads. Just about ready to install mine. And yes take shroud off exc fan and fits good.
Does having two fans make a noticeable difference? I've been wanting to do something like that on mine as well.

I have been considering this mod even though I've never had the engine overheat.. I'm in Alaska after all. However, when I am doing a lot of slow crawling and the existing fan comes on it heats the gas in the left tank and every now and again I have issues with the gas being shunted to the right tank. I think dual fans might distribute the heat more evenly and not only ensure better cooling but also prevent this.
Under most conditions my '04 runs at 4 bars but it will run up to 5 in off-road work or slow traffic, no mater the OAT. It's never gone above 5 bars but it has expanded the coolant beyond the capacity of the overflow on a time or two, and peed a bit of coolant out onto my foot. Has anyone with the dual fans had any further issues like this? How did you like the results?
I think the dual fans are more necessary if youre in a hot climate, with engine working hard & slow speed. Desert sand riding would be a good example. Esp if you get into some soft dunes (or youre a noob sand rider like me) where the bike is working hard - but not necessarily making much progress (ie not much air flow )
If you have any issue with fuel being 'shunted' from one tank to the next, then you have an issue with the venting. Your vent line might be pinched or you made need to consider a flappendectomy.
Both of my tanks just have a short tube to one of those one-way breather valves, which allow air in but not out. So the tanks can build pressure, and this can result in the shunting. I haven't done a flappendectomy... does that allow the standard fuel caps to exhale?

If you let pressure build up & have fuel shifting tanks, you can end up with a geyser of gas out the cap if you open it. Very dangerous. Just run 1-2' vent hoses - loop them up the fairing then down. There is a nipple mid-way down the fairing they terminate on (at least on the euro bikes)
