Attended my first DSDD in Dragoon, AZ this weekend. Met a lot of great people and rode 150 miles of beautiful country. Thought I would post some photos. Woke up this morning and there was snow all over my 4-Runner. I guess this is the second year in a row it snowed on Sunday.

9 Brave souls decided to follow inmate "MntDawg" on a pilgrimage to find the "Holy Grail" or Jackson Cabin...which ever suited each person's needs.

After 20 or so miles of tame 2-track we were swallowed by the belly of the beast in a wash that was 8-10 miles long.

Our lone participant from the fairer sex.

My steed. The wash drew blood on her and she dripped her precious fluids for the next 100 miles. Thankfully her heart is strong and she made it back without collapsing under me.

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/51898081@N08/5482423587/" title="_MG_9593 by Hoosiertrailmaster, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5093/5482423587_66f673a22d_b.jpg" width="682" height="1024" alt="_MG_9593" /></a>

After making it through the wash, six of the nine decided the "Grail" was not to be grasped on this day.

Three of us made the final assault to the elusive Jackson Cabin.

It was a terrific weekend and perhaps my favorite aspect was seeing the "buffalo" in the bar and trying to get a quarter to stay on his forehead.

    Here's my take on DSDD...

Left Phoenix around 1:30 on Friday, made it to Dragoon sometime before 5:00. Joined the ADV'rs around the fire sometime after dark.

Our camper's been in storage since we arrived in AZ 3 years ago. I dumped a lot of $$$ into it last month to get it road ready again. It's good to be using it again!

:lol3 That's what happens when you're tall and like to stand on the pegs a lot. It took a lot of time and modification to get the bar height just right for me. I think they have to come above your shoulders to be considered apes. And as far as looking like a sportster, I could care less how it looks, it's all about the functionality, and that bike suits my needs perfectly. :D If anyone is confused by the way it looks though, they need only note the inoffensive exhaust tone and the fact that the engine runs smoothly and efficiently, unlike certain pseudo-american POS bikes.
