The world is ready to kill itself right now. This morning, one of the girls at work said that she flashed her brights at someone on the way to work because he didn't have his headlights on (still dark out), and at the next stoplight, the dude got out of his car and yelled at her.

I had someone yell at me the other day because he said the headlight on my Bonneville was too bright... at 9:00 in the morning in bright sunlight. I just said "Thanks, I'll get it looked at".

I'm taking the "ride like you're invisible" mantra as serious as ever right now. Don't look at me, don't notice me, I won't provoke you, and I'll stay away from you or go around you if you do something I don't particularly like.

Also, treat everyone like they're carrying a weapon and aren't as stable as you'd prefer.

I'm glad I won't be riding around others probably past the time of mass vaccination. I rode today and I would place money on being the only motorcycle on the road in my entire county. The only other car I saw was the mailman.

Waving a gun around at a family with two kids because of a stinking turn signal issue... I don't think that was quite what the second amendment was about. I hope they catch up with the guy and nail his greasy butt.

That's a felony here in AZ, and justification for use of deadly force in response.

My guess is the dude on the bike has a lot of anger issues and is just looking for the opportunity to unload. However, these days the same is true for a lot of people in public. Wrong person at the wrong time, and someone looses it. I was driving through Chicago Wednesday and the statistics of a large group of people struck me, while sitting in stopped traffic with hundreds of other people I know nothing about other than what I judge or determine by the car they drive. If you apply statistics to say the 500+ people we all encounter per hour while riding or driving in traffic, it means there are a lot of troubled, disturbed, depressed, people out there, and many of them are packing heat these days. Best to stay clear of everyone and not piss anyone off, even if they piss you off.

Yes well they don't forget to use a turn signal. They just cant be fucked and they don't give a rats about anyone else and they will roll over you to get the drive through counter.
    Fuck lazy cunts.

I definitely am seeing a lot less turn signal use. Are they not teaching it anymore in driver's ed?

And I agree, the craziness and road rage is getting out of hand. I also try to maintain a professional, invisibility out on the roads. I am trying to be more patient, let people in more, keep greater distances, use signals, hand waves. I mostly drive my older full size work van and have noticed that I get treated much better out on the road then in my wife's Acura mdx.

Not long ago out on the bike a lady cut me off, no signal, I barely stopped in time. Her window was down and I said driving like that is going to kill someone and I've got a wife and kid at home... She literally came unglued, opened the door and was screaming, called me every name in the book....like I was the one at fault. Had she been armed, with her absolute loss of emotional control, I have no doubt that things would have ended differently.

I opened my helmet, blew her a kiss, and lane split around her.

Because that person could be me. :2guns
Not that it is. But other people who react crazy also don't ever seem to think the calm person they are flipping out on may be packing heat too.
I treat everyone like they may be carrying. Keeps me from a lot of confrontations.

Around here, everyone IS carrying and you're still invisible and they're still pissed off and unstable. And they're texting. And their glasses are fogged up due to wearing a 'rona mask while driving alone in their car.

Hate to say this but- that dude would have ended up under the wheels of my truck and they would be looking for me right now.

Not what I was saying at all.

Not using a turn signal is NOT justification for brandishing a weapon in self defense.

So the people in the minivan are justified in using deadly force to defend themselves against a credible threat to their lives.

The dude on the motorcycle was 100 percent in the wrong.

This is great. You were in your right mind.

A couple of years ago I was driving my car in NYC and I accidentally cut off a car load of young women. To my surprise and amusement, they chased after me. I don't know what nationality or religion they were but they were 5 drop dead gorgeous young black women with - and this is the only way I can describe it - their hair wrapped up in turbans and fruit. They were likely Brazilian tourists, or from Bahia or someplace. Or maybe they were show girls in a Broadway play. But they all had the same type of outfit.

Anyway I stopped at a red light and they pulled up on my side to bitch me out, and they had their windows down all ready to have a great time at my expense and I rolled my window down and I said to the driver "Hey, I am really sorry about that. Thanks for not running into me." And the driver was so stunned she couldn't say anything. And I said something like " I just didn't see you, I'm sorry." She managed to barely stammer out " For real?" and then all of her girlfriends burst out laughing hysterically. She couldn't say anything after that, with them all laughing at her - she looked embarrassed and drove away.

I know I forget at times, thinking of something else or whatever. I also don't like not having self canceling signals on the bike, manufacturers should put them on all bikes just because new riders are likely worse at turning them off than experienced riders... and we all know one time or another we've ridden miles with that signal flashing... :doh

I look at it like this. You have to be on the lookout for those doing stupid stuff by mistake. If we all are doing that then we have others looking out for us when it's our turn to do stupid stuff by mistake. If we all are covering each other's back, then we are all likely good when we make mistakes.
