Awakino does have a bypass route, but you can bypass or bug out of any section.

Phil, you would probably be ok on the Awakino, plenty of larger bikes have got through with good riders, I wouldn't suggest it 2 up. I remember Shrek taking his 1150 through there years ago and a bunch of people pushing him most of the way up. I have to say I always struggle getting up the Kurow to the saddle switchbacks, I've been down the hill, upside down and on my sides more times than I care to remember, I can safely say its the only bit I dislike on the DB.

If I can do it on the 640 you'll be ok solo on the enduro beemer. 'The Awakino' is a bit misleading as that saddle is just the beginning of a long section through the Hawkduns with several steep bits & a few slightly savage river crossings. Just be ready to gas it up some gnar at all times & try not to get too distracted by the awesome scenery.

    Cheers

Yeah, there's a video somewhere. The guy in it had a couple of problems but must have made it over in the end eh?

I skipped it but I reckon I'd give it a bash next time - just not next year :(

Thanks guys. Started working flat out to get the Enduro Beemer up and running again. I flogged quite a bit of stuff off it to get Bumble Beemer on the road again. A couple of Naki guys are keen for the Dusty. Maybe more by later.
The other 2 are on a 690 and a 790 Rally so the Enduro Beemer will need to be "on its A game"
