Hand guard wind deflectors? Headlamp guard? Crotch pad? I dunno. What's new besides the tatoo?

What did you think about the Wunderlich bars on the bike Mary was riding?

I think it would protect the head in a city/pavement crash where the ground was level and it was sliding forward. I like the HB bars because they encase the head itself. So if I drop it off road/rocky conditions the head doesn't stand as high a chance of getting bashed in. If I remember correctly HB is also cheaper.

It occured to me that you guys generally don't ride in cold wether down there. I just rode about 350 miles yesterday with the temp reaching a high of about 43. I also decided to take a side route through the mountains that stupidly enough meant riding through 40 miles of hard pack snow. I think it will be nice riding in CA for a few days.

Hey fill me in on how the planning went!

Oh, we ride when it's cold. I didn't yesterday because I had the option to take the car. I'm enjoying this freedom for another six months, then the princess comes home and I lose my easy access to a cage.

When I lived in Denver, I rode a lot. If it was snowing, I'd ride my mountain bike since for a time it was only 7 miles. More than once I left work inthe snow and slipped and slid my way home... When you have to stop to clear the snow from your helmet, you do begin to wonder if this is really such a good idea...

I really like not having any need for a snow thrower here...

Everything still moving in the forward direction. Bill B, you still going to give me a run down on the plans?

I was watching the news and what the hell there is snow in the mountains outside SanDiego! That's just not right I have to say.

    Hey Scott:

Here's what we know for sure: we are riding to DV next weekend, Dec 3-5. We are staying in hotels rather than camping. We'll spend Friday night in Ridgecrest and Sat night in Beatty, NV, I think.

Not sure of the hotels yet. Somebody was going to research.

I still have a note to call you next week. I will still do that once we have a more concrete plan.

OK, here it goes. Reservations at the Vagabond Inn in Ridgecrest, if booked in advance over the internet, are about $40 a night for 2 adults. Use the Best Rate option. Check it out. I have not checked on rooms for Sat night. We would like to offer our house as a staging area to leave from on Friday, Dec 3 anytime after 3:30pm. We live in Corona near the 15 and 91 fwy interchange. If you would like to meet me there, send a PM and I'll reply with the address.

So Paul and I have a room for Friday. Now if Irv Seaver has a cross-over QD and some O-rings, I'll have a bike that runs without spraying fuel. What a shit design. The QD failed right at the stress riser created by not filleting the bottom of a groove near the base of the "L" part. At least I had just filled the tank and it didn't start spraying in earnest until I was in the garage and had a few rags at my disposal. Everything is stable at the moment but, I'm caged for the next couple of days. I'll know tomorrow if I have parts and if I get another paper plate. Oh, and my tire is supposed to be here a couple of weeks ago this week. Maybe...

so tonight I'll change oil, and find a home for the gass in the GS, then if all else fails I'll make something work for the cross-over connection.

And this question popped into my head this weekend,
Is there any GOOD reason hardware and tools at auto parts stores only come from China?

There once was a time when SK Wayne were sold in auto parts stores...

    A) price, price, and price.

    B) people bought the cheap chinese stuff, while the expensive inventory languished. real mechanics get their tools from the SnapOn or MAC trucks.

    Too many road closures.

Too much other stuff has hit the fan, so I am out. As is Paul.

Oh, and it's too damn cold! I'm freezing!

    Work, work, work....

Maybe there'll be time for the show instead...

What is the story on road closures? I didn't think any of the roads we'd planned to ride were closed. Did this weekend's rain affect the roads?

I am still in if we are riding. In fact I am scrambling....my Mountain Sun panniers were stolen off of my bike Thanksgiving night. I am paying extra for shipping to replace my stuff in time. Got engine protection bars on the way. Doing a 30k service in the Garage Mahal Wednesday. Ordered a heated vest. I am ready. Actualkly I am woefully NOT ready, but I plan to be ready by 3p Friday.

BTW, I have to go to the MC Show for work Friday. Anybody care to join me?

All - I have not cancelled the room reservation yet. I could still go if it works out for everybody else. It sounds like a scramble for a few. I'll hold off on the room cancellation for a day or two.

Hey all, sorry for the late notice but Christi and i are going to back out of this weekend.

As you can tell from my frequent visits to the board, workload is just killing me. Judging from what i see comming, its only going to get worse.

Couple that with the holidays, i dont think i can be prepared for this ride.

Im very dissapointed and hope you all dont get too bent about it. Can we reschedule for Jan with the DV Days?
