OTR and Barb, I'm sorry to hear about your problems. I know they are shared between you as they should be. I live in Deep Gap, NC about 25 miles from Mountain City, TN and 1.2 hours from Sevierville, TN. I have a fairly flexible work schedule. Please call on me at 828-964-6311 for help around the estate, loading bikes, for anything you might need. You will probably have a lot of suggestions for bikes going forward, but my thoughts are for a Can-Am Spyder. I have friends that have them for no other reason than they enjoy riding them. I am thinking of getting one for myself....

Thank y'all for the thoughts , we'll see what next yr brings , she may not want to be bounced around on any bike , she loves the mountain F.S. roads the best away from traffic and the views , we see so many things people miss out on the tarmac ....Dr. has already said do nothing but walking the rest of this yr , I don't know how I'm gonna keep her out of that flower garden !! NO BENDING !
She had a rough night last night , can't believe how much swelling she has in her arms and legs !

Oh, yeah, if we're including roads then there are tons of great spots. I thought we were only looking at dirt riding which is hard to find in Knox County.

Yes, you're right. I was thinking mostly roads and gravel. I do find some good riding in the area north of Oak Ridge. Route 116 and 330 area. I've found some fun roads to the strip mines.

I was on 330 today , that's one crooked road. We hit a couple dirt roads in the area that are on the KAT , man it was dusty !
Barb is improving every day , a month or so now , still has to wear the back brace when she goes outside but gets around good . Just no bending , twisting or picking up anything....or riding her motorcycle ! She won't be bending much when she is healed , but she got rid of a lot of pain !!

Little jeep ride on the Foothills Pkw to look at colors... nice day and Barb is doing good. She can get in the jeep now without the step stool , even drove it the other day. Guess you could say we are blessed.

nov 2017 (2).jpg 3 month check up today , more good news!
Best news is , he said no reason she can ride her bike if that's what you want to do.. back will be straight and not be able to twist to look side to side , so be careful.... I like the Dr. out look " we fixed you to enjoy life" !
We got another chance at life , how can you complain ~It was early but we celebrated anyway.

" we fixed you to enjoy life" !

Amen! Such a huge relief to you both I'm sure. I've got a similar issue and the "no twisting" can be adjusted to easier than not riding or whatever else you may endeavor in. Biggest adjustment is in checking for oncoming traffic from certain intersections.

    Best of luck!

Thanks for the kind words, I'll pass this on to her !

I'm sure it's a challenge cking for traffic, I had thought about that, but when we ride the Sena's are on and ride in front letting her know of any traffic or issues , we stop together when crossing main roads, ect. We ride mostly back roads and mountain gravel and avoid traffic . You might say I'm over protective ! I ride like a different person when she's with me , on her bike or riding 2 up, she just means that much to me.

She rides great , she's just short and if she stops puts her foot down on a slope or in a hole , well she's had a problem or two dealing with that ( I have too).

It will be next spring or summer before she's healed to a point to want to get on her bike ,but that's ok , it's winter coming up anyway... I'll have some pix when she rides and I'll have my fingers X !

The Doc said she was his "poster girl" when she had her hip replaced and the people that done her back said she was at the top of their list of patients !! You might say she heals Great , but her body has failed her a few times !

Riding solo , but I can post a pic every now and then .
Took a little ride on the 990 today , nice weather , in the high 60s , mostly pavement , but did ride a stretch of Starr Mountain . Great ride while Barb stayed at home to guard the fort ( and watch the dog) , love that girl.

Sometimes she would take over and I would ride on the back! I'd have to make her slow down on the curves , scary ridin on back !

Love your ride reports, I hope Barb can get back to riding sometime.

can't believe the trees are already blooming in Tellico, Heading down to MMM in a few weeks to breath some mountain air.

PS, my wife is also named Barb, but we have only been married for 31 yrs. :-)
