it'll be haul ass out there and haul ass back :D

a BB1500 will happen coming home. and probably a BB1500 Gold. I'll use the trip out to judge that decision.

I count on making it a SS1000 out there. Just for the fact that I did it out and back last time, but didn't document it. This time I will. :nod

Now, if I somehow find the $$$$$ to get that RT before the trip comes up, It'll be a BB1500.:evil

so far, playing around with the map software. the route looks like a run to Mt Rushmore, 1767 miles

then wiggle towards Steamboat Springs, 488 miles

then down to Copper Mountain, thru Leadville, Twin Lakes, Aspen, Crested Butte and Sapinero to Ouray. 453 miles

and a 1940 mile run home. average 70mph and I can get the BB1500 Gold in 23 hours and be near Huntington WV coming back

yep, I'm going :D at least I'll try like hell to be there.

If they have it on the mon-tues-wed. before the BMWMOA rally, I'll be leaving Indy early Sat. morning(maybe Fri. night) and taking 70 pretty much all the way there.

I'm not sure when you are going but the Top of the Rockies rally in Paonia is excellent. we went out in 2000 and spent Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Northern Colorado, and then to Paonia where we spent the rest of the week around Paonia and down to Ouray and Silverton.

If anyone needs a place to stay in NM on their way in or out, I've got a big yard for camping and you are welcome to the showers and kitchen.
I'm 15 minutes south of Alb.

I can. :D now I have the general route and a game plan. and plenty of time to take care of the details, like the date, knowing I need to have the bike ready, getting the time off, etc :nod

plus, mentioning a few places in CO got responses with some great pics :thumb Independence Pass looks like a cool route :D

and I could possibly pick up a few strays along the way, like Goonie, Rider and Fluggie. Poser rides alone. but he knows the route and may stop by for a drink in the evenings :lol1

hell, who knows, we could end up with a beemer train across the plains on I-90 :evil I wouldn't want to keep that train together in the mountains, but across the plains on the slab would be easy. :lol2

A BB1500 coming back? no more than 2 bikes
in the mountains? no more than 4 bikes, 3 is better :D

anyway, I like playing around with the map software on a rainy Monday afternoon :flip

Talking to a couple prospective employers in my area. Both are offering 2 mos of leave. Possibly more.

So I will have plenty of time to go galavanting over the US on the GS next year (I hope).

Keep me in the loop on this one. This is exactly why I want more leave. Salary doesn't hurt, but if I have the money and not the time, I'm still stuck at work.

Anyway - keep me in your plans.
