I'm not sure why I can only put one picture per post, but here's a few.
Loved this thing! My favourite bike of the weekend.
A pink KLR.
Be loud, be proud, right.
If he's this bad Friday night, Saturday's going to be pretty tough.
This actually the moon on Saturday night.
Here's your route for tomorrow, make sure you remember it.
Thats because I wasn't there. Had other commitments.
Thanks for all of the compliments and input guys! I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off most of the time with the raffle and whatnot but also had a great ride on the new Husaberg.... I'm loving that thing! I had kind of lost the joy in riding recently however getting back into the more aggressive off-road seems to have relit that fire!
As mentioned at the riders meeting, Rallyconnex will be taking over the rally next year.. I'll still be helping out Kevin with the social aspects and pre ride and from what I hear there would be some preference to move the dinner portion back up to the hanger.. ? Keep the constructive criticism coming and I 100% confident that Kevin and Rallyconnex will put together a much improved event.
George washing his bike the hard way
Now i see how off i was of that track.
Thanks for the help Greg.
BTW, she started up ..thanks for no prefilter probably.
I did not take many pics this weekend - too busy riding and socializing I guess!
It was a fantastic weekend. Thank you Ron and all those who prepared and organized - your work was appreciated by all who came!!
Here are a few pics:
This was my first time at the Elmhirst, and I must say I was very impressed!
Beautiful Rice Lake:
any time i think i was more worried than you were .
just didn't want to stand that monster on its back wheel to drain
I heard Ron saying the same but Kevin pushed the starter and voila...
Dash went crazy, camera went dead...by the time i got home they all dried out ,workin..
There are drain plugs on the manifolds which i'll try to loosen up by RR....just in case
I was lucky to ride with 6 great guys. We started on the organized route #3, but Pigpen (Mike) suggested we could ride the route that Dr Cool laid out last year, which Mike did not finish last year, and he still had it loaded in his gps. I was all for that, as I thought it would be nice to ride Dr. Cool's route, especially since Dr. Cool and his family were a big focus of the rally this weekend. The only problem was that I did not know where we were going.
The route was great. However, I dropped my bike when I slid out in some mud. We all had a lugh, as this was formerly Kahoon's bike, and likely never saw any dust, let alone a mud and scratches from a fall. Thankfully it was a slow speed drop and no real harm. Unfortunately, Smilin' Ed also dropped his bike a little later, and we were going a little faster at that point, and on gravel. His shoulder was pretty sore, so Junac (other Mike) offered to ride back to the resort with him, even though it was still early in the day. You're a gentleman, Junac! The next time I saw Ed he was wearing a sling on his arm, and his wife who had just showed up at the resort for the evening was not too impressed.
The rest of us went on from there, following Pigpen, and we ended up very close to my cottage, and it was lunchtime. I suggested we could go there for lunch. Then I remembered that my daughter was at the cottage with a bunch of friends. Did not know what we would find when we got there. I called her cell to see if it would be okay if I showed up with a bunch of knarly biker dudes, but she did not pick up the phone. So, we went anyways - I was not sure what kind of reception we would get - but when we got there my daughter had the barbecue on, and a stack of burgers - the first thing she said was "hey, you guys are just in time!". Perfect!
So, we had a nice lunch on the deck there, and then got back to the route.
That's Carlo (Ridemuch) and Derrick on their bikes. Pigpen is looking for something in the bush at this point , so that is his bike and mine in front.
We had a GREAT ride, and the weather was perfect as well.
Make for a Fantastic weekend. Always enjoy Elmhirst Resort, the staff along with Wilma, and the Elmhirst family make for a great get away weekend.
The Elmhirst dinner was simply delicious.
Thanks Ron and crew for putting together another memorable weekend.
