Pulled out of Massanutten VA at 7:45 hit the BRP at about 9:00 arrived in Little Switzerland NC milepost 334 about 18:45
Perfect weather low humidity scattered clouds and very little traffic.
Saw 1 bear 1 wood rat ( deer) and 3 park rangers
In one left hand corner there was a wicked dip, and the valk hit hard on the side stand, no damage except to my panties:fpalm

Now why would I take a picture of a 765kv power line in blue ridge VA?
Well in nineteen hundred and seventy seven I was on the erection crew that put those towers up, they seem to be holding up better than I

Again the weather was as good as it could be on the Parkway, and I was trying to enjoy it to the fullest, because latter in the day I'd have to deal with the full length of GA. on hwy 441

It was really warm in Fla. record high temps, the one day in Gainesville it was 102, I know some people will roll their eyes and say that aint hot, well it's hot for Fla. especially in May, and even west of there where I was at in Chiefland it touched 100

Lower Suwannee wildlife refuge, dry really dry, and no wildlife to be found, too hot they must be deep in the swamp bedded down.

Maybe a mile down the road to Manatee springs, been here many times but I don't grow tired of it's simple beauty.

From the mouth of the spring to the Suwannee river is maybe 1/4 mile

Never enough time, too many people to see, and too many miles in between them all, time to say farewell, but first

Thought I'd wash the bike before I left Chiefland, this guy was trying to help.

I strongly would encourage if you have the opportunity to travel the Parkway do it, and take your time, just mellow out a bit and enjoy.

I actually did, wasn't sure if I would like that big of a bike, but it was quite comfortable, adequate power, and with just a few tweeks and I might keep it.

Left Asheville early after a healthy Waffle House breakfast, but only made it to Bedford VA. While mindlessly riding along I was thinking I had enough fuel to get to Buchanan VA where I was going to exit the pkwy and head NE thru WV., but someplace north of Roanoke my trip meter was hung up and wouldn't spin the 9 tenths to the next whole number, and I couldn't remember how many miles it had been since I fueled, so a little back tracking along with a nasty looking thunderstorm approaching I went for an early close of the day.

The weather reports for the ride didn't look to good for my trip the next day unless I start early, and don't waste anytime.

Made it almost to Ohio before the storms started rolling in, so not bad 3700 mile trip and only a slight amount of rain, and for a bonus I got to Mansfield OH to stay at my favorite Motel 6, don't laugh we've been staying here while at AMA vintage mc days for years now, there is a Bob Evans next door and 20 min from mid ohio.

Next day was easy up to Bay City area where I had my truck stashed.

What did I learn on this yearly trip to Fla.?
Maybe the perforated leather jacket didn't have enough perforations, for the hotness I encountered, back to mesh next time.

The ferry at Fly Oh to Sistersville Wv was closed, not sure if it's permanent or not.

The roll chart made from a Pelican case worked fantastic thanks to an ADV inmate someplace on here that made one and shared the idea.

Thumbs down to Honda for making such a cheap shitty starter button on an otherwise solid bike.

Bridgestone Exedra Max tires worked very well, and the rear looks good not much flat spotting down the middle yet.
    IMG_20190613_095746839.jpg

Exedra touring front, both are radials, for a heavy bike laden with gear and a fair amount of 80-85 mph in 100+ temps I don't have any complaints
    IMG_20190613_095940470.jpg

Of course with a bike like this you run out of clearance long before you run out of tire, that is one thing I've had to learn to adjust my judgement of corner speed.

    Gear
HJC IS maxII I like modular helmets and the internal sun visor, also that way I don't have to carry 2 sets of glasses
Vanson perforated leather jacket, too damn hot for conditions
Diamond Gusset defender jeans or Klim baja depending on how I felt that day.
Forcefield armored shorts, some days I would, some days I wouldn't.
    leatt knee guards, every day.
TCX desert boots, every day, had them for a few years, never do my feet get wet, and they are really not that hot, even in really warm weather.

Mid Ohio VMD aka Mud Ohio

500 miles from sparkling beautiful Brimley Michigan on the balmy shores of lake Superior, to the motel 6 in Mansfield OH. 8 and a half hours, four gas stops, a peanut butter n honey sandwich, and lots of water.

Since its been a wet spring and summer I left the pickup and KLR at home, I had already heard reports of a swampy campground, and didn't want to deal with that crap, and it was saw a lot of camper trailers, pickups and cars that were stuck in the mud, plus when you ride a bike there you can't buy a bunch of junk, like the really nice 78 GS 1000E for $2200, just no where to fit it on the Valkyrie.

    Bubba's bike
    P1070345.JPG IMG_20190705_115536634.jpg

I remember vividly watching on tv when he was seriously injured in a cool off lap in 89 at the US grand prix, Bubba was at vmd signing autographs and talking with people.

Honda was this years sponsor, thought they would pull out all the stops, but no they didn't, not complaining, well maybe I am, money must still be tight in the moto world.

Met the engineer of this Kawasaki 1200cc, 3cyl, 2 stroke, watercraft powered drag bike, thanks YT for starting it up so I could here the raucous sound coming out of those 3 stingers, having owned 2, 3cyl two strokes in the past it's a sound embossed in your brain. You can see more if you like triples www.naktc.com

Maybe I should get another one, you know just to tinker with, not spend a bunch on just tinker.

Sat. I did something I've never done before,or had a desire to do, my friend and I signed up for a dinner ride out to the Ashland county fairgrounds for sat. nite flat track races, you take about an hour long group ride and get a dinner, reserved parking, reserved grandstand seats, and a pit pass whats not to like? well about 50 bikes, and 5 miles into it the sky opened up, I mean really opened up, rivulets of water running across the roadway, tree debris, and lightning bolts in the fields next to us, and way to close for comfort.

I don't think anyone had rain gear on, but it felt good after all the heat and humidity, and I still have leather gear hanging up drying out here at home, my buddy only had a moto x helmet with sunglasses on, poor bastard got plastered.

Nice bbq at the track, but unfortunately the races where postponed until Sun. morning, one of the things we always look forward to at VMD, but you can't hold back the weather, so there is always next year.

Thanks to inmate Drbuzzard for throwing himself into traffic so I could pull out of my parking spot.

Fired the ole Valkyrie up Sunday morn about 8am, just tank to tank and a hydration backpak full of h2o till I got home 8 an a half hours latter
