really good, but I haven't been there for a while.

Dingy Dock Pub - Floating pub on Protection Island which you access from downtown Nanaimo

You take a small ferry - seats 20 or so and runs regularily in the summer.

Had great halibut burgers and fries, problem was you never wanted to leave.:1drink

Have fun and enjoy yourself. I managed to get over to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" /><st1:City><st1:place>Burnaby</st1:place></st1:City> this past week and had a great meal at Anton's Pasta on <st1:Street><st1:address>East Hastings Street</st1:address></st1:Street> across from the Admiral. I forgot how big the meals were, absolutely incredible! http://www.antonspastabar.com/

Yup, Anton's is a shrine to tasty carbo loading for sure! As impoverished students in the 80's, my wife and I were regulars there. 1 entre fed us for the evening, and 2 fed us for a couple days! We've never been dissapointed there, and have now taken our kids there when in town.

The Horseshoe Bay Inn is a great spot, a friend of mine swears by the crispy dried ribs. If you like golf the Mount Brenton Golf Course next door is a lot of fun. http://mountbrentongolf.com/

After watching Eat Street on the Food Network and drooling over the meals made on wheels this was defintely on the list. Puerto Vallarta Amigos hangs out near Best Buy at the Uptown Centre in Saanich. Prices are reasonable and the quality really good. http://www.pvamigos.com/

The Beacon Landing Pub in Sidney. http://www.beaconlanding.ca/ It doesn't get any better than this, fresh halibut and chips with a beauiful view of the Gulf Islands. The Caesar salad is really good as well, not too creamy, has some capers added and completed with a couple of small slabs of anchovie on top.

This was awhile back (and I cant remember the name of the pub), but the cheapest place to find a beer at YVR was in the pub in the basement.
And as for food and scenery the flying beaver was great, on the south side of the strip.

I remember the 'Tomahawk' in North Van, close to the Lions Gate Bridge, from when I was a young hooligan back in the early 70's. It had been there since the 20's or so IIRC, and made the most amazing burgers. Is that still there?

It's still around and was featured on 'Triple D' when Guy Fieri did a few episiodes from Vancouver. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHQbrpPeqNU&feature=player_embedded

The rumour was that the owners were going to close because the property taxes were getting too high. Apparantly they have managed to stay on. :clap
