26% of Tesla twitter follower respondents think an electric motorcycle will be introduced.

I think that it would be fantastic if/when Tesla introduces an electric motorcycle.

Tesla currently uses cylindrical cells, not the stackable pouch cells that Zero and most other el-moto manufacturers use. This means a different approach to battery placement, maybe similar to Storm Eindhoven's if Tesla chooses, offering quick translongitudinal battery swaps.

Until Tesla enters into to el-moto market, all we have are artist renderings and our dreams of what it could be like.

Yesterday, Tesla announced that its 3rd generation battery pack is much denser than its predecessor, and it benefits from a comprehensively updated cooling system. In simpler terms, the new technology will go further on a single charge without requiring the use of a bigger, heavier battery pack.

Denser, lighter, higher performing battery tech is great news for a possible future el-moto application.

Yes. Unusual for a winning MX bike to not make any noise, lol. Josh Hill won decisively back to back on his Alta in the qualifying rounds.

Controller was super compact and tucked behind the battery stack. I learned from one of their crew that it has 220v charge capability, filling up in half the time.

My son was invited to sit on Hill's Alta :super

Much appreciation to the Alta team for taking the time to speak with us before the race. Hill expressed that he would be pleased if he qualified in the top 8. He accomplished that finishing a very respectable 4th. Not bad for electric's debut in professional motocross.

Overall, a great night seeing how well Josh piloted the Alta with his reknowned riding skills on an equally impressive motorcycle.

Your son can almost reach the footpegs! Maybe they'll make a junior model for kids like him, soon.

Is he too big for the Razor MX electric moto?

    Not yet :)

After he outgrows the Razors, I'd like to move him up to the OSET's. His current Razor has switchable dual onboard battery pack for a combined range of 32 miles @15mph/24v.

898 lb.-ft. of torque enough for you? :yikes

Switzerland's Zvexx motorcycles actually ride this obsidian monster on the roads around Lake Geneva

Uses a 26-cell lithium-ion battery pack storing 13 kilowatt-hours of juice, about half the energy of the original Nissan Leaf, yielding a riding range of 94 miles.

The G-force will snap your head back, causing injury.

In 2006, I had a dual-electric-motor made for a friend. Two controllers, too. The torque made my bicycle helmet come off my head, and I beat a big-engined Mustang in a street drag race. That's two generations of hub-motor technology ago.

An adventurous group of motorcycle riders plan to go on a groundbreaking ride through 15 countries using all-electric touring bikes.

The custom-built bikes forgo the usual roar of motorcycle motors – instead, their 88-horsepower engines create a high-pitched electric hum.

With a top speed of 130 km/h and a range of close to 300 kilometres, the motorcycles, which take five hours to charge, represent the leading edge of electric bike technology.

"I think it's a step in the right direction. And one of our goals as a production is actually to be able to get out there and show green technology,” said JC Davis, one of three riders.

To showcase the technology, the group will ride 40,000 kilometres from the wilderness of Alaska down to the tip of South America.

Along the way, they will document their adventures for a reality show called Expedition Electric.

Rider Danell Lynn knows something about long motorcycle trips after setting a Guinness Record last year for the longest motorcycle ride in a single country.

She logged 85,000 gas-powered kilometres during that trip and says she’s excited to be going green for the next one.

"Something that actually attracted me to it is that it hasn't really been done before and we're on that forefront,” she said. “It was a really unique experience to watch all the other bikers go, ‘What is happening? What’s going on?’”

The team hopes to visit with Tesla founder Elon Musk at the Gigafactory in Nevada, where the electric car maker produces batteries.

"As we get closer to being back in that area, we're definitely hoping to get in and have a conversation with the big guy,” said Davis.

The team stopped in Vancouver while testing their bikes, and plans to begin its trip on Alaska’s Dalton Highway in September.

A few weeks ago, we reported in exclusivity about Storm Sondors, the maker of the popular Sondors ebike, launching another crowdfunding campaign but this time for an electric car. We mentioned that it could very well be the first serious attempt to crowdfund an electric vehicle, but as it turns out, it was joined by another in a matter of days.

There are now two electric vehicle crowdfunding campaigns running simultaneously and they both have already reached their goal for a combined total of over $1 million toward the development of the vehicles. expand full story

The graphics or the bike looks different from the one that went up the "impossible" mountain. Can't remember that name of the rider with a Latin name.

Earlier this month in Los Angeles, those el-moto riding Eindhoven students won a drag race with a helicopter!

In addition, when these students complete their round the world trip without using a drop of gas, it will likely bring more attention to the capabilities of electric vehicles.

And in recent news, Germany plans to ban sales of all gas powered vehicles after 2030.

Goldman Sachs projects that one in four cars sold in 2025 will have electric engines.

Electric motorcycle sales in Europe in 2015 nearly doubled from the year before, according to Navigant Research analyst Ryan Citron.

    http://money.cnn.com/2016/10/25/technology/electric-motorcycle/index.html

Additionally, Tesla has plans in expanding its giga-factory to accommodate the forecasted increase in lithium production demands and the price of lithium cobalt has nearly tripled this past year.

For those of us powered by voltage, having these are useful at charging stations or that random public outlet.

Zero's updated 2017 models can now go 200 miles on a single charge.

Zero has improved its Z-Force powertrain and included interior permanent magnet (IPM) motors, resulting in greater acceleration and 116-ft-lb of torque. US buyers will also receive a 10 percent federal tax credit on top of any state incentives in addition to *mfr discounts on all of its Zero S, Zero SR, Zero DS, Zero DSR, Zero FX and Zero FXS models for 2017, and each lithium-ion battery is still backed by a five-year, unlimited mileage warranty, so you can ride the world.

    https://www.engadget.com/2016/11/09/zero-motorcycles-2017-range-power/

*Qualifying military personnel, riding instructors, first responders, and MSF graduates will receive an incentive of $500 for Zero S, Zero DS, Zero SR and Zero DSR models or $250 for Zero FX and Zero FXS models at the time of purchase.

Besides more torque and hp, the new S and DS are now also 95lbs lighter and have twice the storage.
