    Probably passable.

Big obstacle last November (when I was on it)... there was a nasty 100 yard (or so)
stretch of Bull Dust (fesh-fesh) north of Soldier Ranch. Dust was almost knee deep.
Don't know what shape it is in now.
Bull dust in wintertime often mudds in to wallows... dunno.

Beyond the dust... there was an uphill that had rock faces protruding on it...
which made it interesting, but not a show-stopper.
Last time I was through there they had torn out the faces with a road grader...
    now the hill is easy.

Other than that, the road was pretty good... but
there are a couple of washes you cross on the north end.
I have taken that road 4 or 5 times... I don't see problems
with those washes in a normal year.

Badger Mountain road makes a nice run back to Cedarville.
Contacts 8A a few miles east of the Stevens Camp turnoff.

Best thing to do is contact the BLM office in Cedarville.
    They usually know what's open.

Stuff to 'see' over there. This will keep you busy.

Stevens Camp (neat place... off 8A and back way off High Rock Canyon)
Gerlach (Lunch at Brunos, hamburger is pretty good)
Out on the Black Rock playa... probably still muddy though.
Fly Rock Geyser. (Burning man bought it... and it may be open... dunno)
Guru Road... (North of Gerlach... has some interesting 'artwork')
    Eagleville (neat location)
Fandango Pass. Neat ride great views on the way up to the pass.
Ft. Bidwell (visit the old Indian School)
25 mile cutoff to Adel... Adel Store (neat old-time place go in there if you can).
Fields Station that is bit of a drive on 140... or take Knott Creek road from Summit Lake (bit shorter)
    Bog Hot springs. (near Denio)
34A Catnip Lake... yellow headed 'blackbirds', Neat location. You can walk through the catnip.
Badger Mountain (Badgers, Horses, Anti-lope, Coyotes)
Leadville (old mine on Hwy 34 north of Gerlach)
    Petrified Forest monument on 34
High Rock Canyon (if passable and your skills permit).
Soldier Ranch (if open... dunno on how friendly they are anymore)
Soldier Ranch Hot-springs (East from Soldier Ranch)
    Summit Lake
Hays Canyon Road to High Rock Canyon and Stevens Camp. (back way)
High Rock Hilton (old mining/ranching shed... Little High Rock Canyon).
Opal Mines. (Soldier Creek... and Virgin Valley off of 140... or a back road from Summit Lake)
Out on the Black Rock playa... probably still nasty-muddy though.
Black Rock. Double Hot springs...(probably muddy though)

High country is probably still snow-bound.
If you get a chance in the future visit Dismal Swamp.

“Rally Central” is noted on the picture. At least it was last year.

It was a mixed bag last year. Some cooked. Others relied on the dining in town.

Another question: I'm interested in doing a 100-150-mile loop on Saturday. I'm still relatively nervous about the leg that I broke last year, so I'm looking for a route that won't put me at too much risk of another incident. This past year's break was the second serious break on the tibia, and the word "amputation" was mentioned in relationship to doing it again. Get's one's attention pretty quickly. Anybody got ideas for me?

    These are 'EZ' Loops.

299 east... Hwy 34 South... Gerlach... 447 back to Cedarville. 200 miles. Return loop is paved.
Nice ride. Petrified wood, old mine, artwork in Gerlach, Brunos for lunch.
Return trip on 447 is a great ride too.

Bidwell Road... 25 mile cutoff to Adel, 140 east to Hwy 34, 34A across Sheldon Anti-lope, 8A back to Cedarville. Mostly gravel other than 140, a bit more adventurous...

I was out that way a couple weeks ago. It did rain and snow on us, but everything is pretty dry and clear expect the highest elevations where you can still find some drifts. All the dry lake beds are dry. Unfortunately I can't make it, but you guys will have a great time out there. The dirt is awesome right now!

Do NOT park on the grass. The RV spots are not very far from where the tent folks hang out.

People bring their own food but also ate at restaurants. I like to see folks spend some money in town.

Farm Rulz means pack it in, pack it out. Take care of yourself. John (@m0t0-ryder) will be there fairly early and can point you in the right direction. We stay right near the fairground gates.

So the folks from the fairgrounds returned my call. The gates will be open, the hot water on but they said the grass is a little bit tall. I replied that meant a comfier spot for our tents. I will call the Country Hearth and let them know to expect slightly larger crowds than normal over the weekend.

The Country Hearth does prime rib dinner on Friday and Saturday. They are expecting us for breakfast on Friday/Saturday/Sunday. If you are keen to do dinner there on Saturday let me know and I will give them a heads up. When I mentioned I was expecting 30 and we might have half the group heading in for breakfast I was told "send in all 30". :lol3

If you are having breakfast there Friday and want to do dinner, too, you can also let wait staff know so that they are ready.
