For reference, my 55 pound Border Collie/German Shepherd goes through 50 pounds of food every 2 months or so. (of course dad insists on supplementing with scraps and leftovers)

I asked @Number8teen how much her dog eats. She said about 30 lbs a month. He's a 70 lb dog who eats only kibble.

There is a vet clinic in Cedarville open Tuesdays and Wednesdays. They are appointment only, but offer a drop off service. I would totally contribute for a checkup/ear exam for Steve. https://modocvetcenter.com/about-us/our-satellite-clinics/

I called the Convenience Store. Steve's owner is out today. I'll try again tomorrow.

I also called the Surprise Valley Vet Clinic. The message said they are only open Wednesdays from 8-5 with 1 hour lunch.
I then called the Modoc Vet clinic in Alturas, which runs the Surprise Valley Clinics.
They informed me that there will be a 10 - noon availability next Wednesday.
I let them know that I would pay to have his ear wound cleaned and treated.

Now to get ahold of the owner to see if he can get "Steve the Maverick" to the clinic on Wednesday.

That's about what my dog, Texas eats.
We add 1/4 cup cooked-chopped chicken to one can of kibble a day.
He's quite a big old ACD (Australian Cattle Dog) at 80lbs & 12 years.

Just spoke to Steve the Mavericks Owner, Richard.
He is really appreciative of the dog food.
He asked for SFCootz email to send some pictures of Steve. (I'll PM you his cell number).
Richard also said that the ear injury has been there for awhile and has been dressed repeatedly.
He declined my offer of the vet on Wednesday.

    Additionally...
Steve is about 8 years old.
He is retired from an Arizona Police department as the heat was just too much for him down there.
He was adopted by a couple in Bidwell who then moved and gave Steve to Richard.
Richard said Steve is getting old but can still leap 5 foot vertical and loves to play with the attack training sleeve that he has.
He also likes to wander. Richard said he came home Monday after we left.

D'aw. I was stoked about your offer to have his ear checked.

I'll text Richard my email. I'd love some Steve pics and am glad he's stoked on the kibble at least.
