Blythe to Primm started out with 20 miles a slab which led to this nice little loop up into the Intaglios hills. Just a few rocks and hills up here. This section requires your attention :D

The next 25 miles were flat with a few washes, and a couple inches of simple sand. The tracks are easy to follow, and the signs help too!

You get about 15 miles of nice two track, just prior to HWY 63.

At this point in the ride, PVD discovered his rear sub frame has broken clean through on both sides of the tail. He contacted our Chase Vehicle, who found a weld shop in Needles - those two would rendezvous in town, while the rest of the team continues on the routes.

The main group hit miles of nice sandy track, but suffered a pinch flat. There are a few washouts lurking on this section past the active Salt Plant.

Thanks again to Mike R. for the extra tire iron, and helpful set of hands - done in 15 minutes!

Great news for PVD and his 950 SE. Eric S. located a weld shop in Needles, who were able to get on the job immediately. The welder was also a moto rider, and made quick work of the repair. PVD was able to join back up with the group for the finial 100 miles into Primm. Nice - quick shop find Eric!

    ^^^^^^^

This. Fack, I can't wait to get on my bike and start hitting these tracks. Great pics man, thanks for posting. Really glad the rider was able to get the broken subframe sorted, nice to have the chase truck able to help get that nailed down so the rider could meet back up with you guys.

And I seriously hate f*ckin flats. Would enjoy going through a whole trip without experiencing one; at least on my bike :lol3 :lol3. I'm happy to help and provide guidance for the other guys....lol.

Keep 'em coming man, the group of yahoos (2 of which have already joined this thread) I'm doing this with all congregate in Yuma Sunday afternoon, we leave first thing Monday. Stoked!

The second half of the day the ride took us through the Mojave Desert. The soils here were as good as any we have encountered. New York MNT is a 20 mile smooth - super run that allows a bike to test its limits.

An unusual display of old shoes is on this route!

    IMG_5290.JPG

    IMG_5292.JPG

This is Mike S. and his KTM 530 running even with the UPRR. The race lasted for about 10 miles.

    IMG_5302.jpg

The 225 mile day was nearly perfect, but the 640 ADV decided to get crossed up and take a nap about 15 miles from Primm.

    IMG_1646.jpg

The old 640 took a minute to clear the Cobwebs, and catch her wind. But soon declared ‘it doesn’t hurt anymore, let’s go’

That's a fair point, though let me point out that I had nothing to do with the damn weather, broken toes, etc. Plus, you drank all my whisky in the tent :lol3. Really glad you're making the trek south man.

Couple more trail shots from Day 2 Blythe to Primm. The elevation and early spring heat have us chugging water all day.

We spent the night watching some of the Mint 400 - whose track runs through town. There are quite a few fellow Moto Fans in town this weekend.

Great pics from the trail, really like the shot of the track going through Joshua Tree Park! Getting seriously amped to get down there and start riding in a couple days.

I hope the weather keeps cooperating with you guys, much rather have heat and have to chug water than deal with rain in the desert. Last forecast I checked saw showers moving in on the 10th, which is when we'd be rolling through Blythe.

Knobby side down and keep the pics and report coming!

With the Mint 400 in town this weekend, we woke up to a lot of high dollar machines competing for the trophies!

    IMG_6325.jpg

Far from only being a simple race, the Mint 400 attracts nearly 50,000 spectators and 550 race teams to Las Vegas for parties, parades, the off-road festival, and the races. Previous winners include BJ Balwin, Robby Gordon and Rick Mears.

Our first 20 miles out of Primm - headed to Furnace Creek - climbed and was a great start to the day.

PVD on his freshly welded 950 SE.

Mike S. shifting and drifting his 530 up a grade.

    IMG_6336.jpg

PVD had a center stand issue - that he quickly locked down. Always carry tools, and extra nuts and bolts - and tubes.
