Alrighty then!! I must say i’m getting pretty pysched! I get to tell you a story. First off as with all Adventures the research and planning takes some time. The main mission and destination of this trip is Overwhelmingly to stay at 3 Step Hideaway. For me it was a must do destination even though we had not been there before. It just looked cool and from all I read we had to go! So the trip was based on getting there. All else was just a bonus of the ride and adventure being out on he bike.Hell yeah! And thats how it ended up being. Thanks to ADVrider and all its cool threads AND People you get a sense of whats real and what needs to be done. We would be near Moab so I researched the WRT and then further south the Moki Dugway, Muley point and Valley of the Gods. All of it seemed so surreal looking at the pictures and video. So it would be done and we where on our way. Bike and trailer loaded with gear was about as good as it gets maybe too much! Ha!! So enough ramblin’ lets get this thread rollin’ !!! :rilla

I had talked with Scott and he mentioned we could do the Shaffer trail on the way back along with Potash rd to get back to Moab. Well I had a plan and didnt tell Steph what we where going to do!! Haha!! 1425075F-B5A3-4A0C-8DD5-A6A878291CBA.jpeg B315B354-E38A-48DD-B9E4-35540DBB43C4.jpeg We where going to go down there! Couple dudes (California plates) in a Mustang headed towards the Shaffer trail!! Not sure if its even posible to climb up that thing in a Mustang!! 8512F1A4-2C17-4FDD-A20E-3CDCD5CD485E.png Dorks are soon forgotten with the desert beauty!! 40AE0F2D-B991-430F-997A-29D3994BF546.jpeg We made it back to Moab and had some lunch at the brewery. What we had ridden was awesome and fairly long? I had had a workout. So we dicussed the next days event. Well we both decided to just bail on it for an 8 hour trip might just be too much. After all we where in “kick back” mode on vacation. I wanted to be able to function the next day too! Oh well next time and we’ll make it an overnighter on the trail as @Brian Reiber had done with his wife.

    DAY 13
We sadly said “Good bye” to our great friends at 3 Step. We headed south out the back way to hwy 491 DA1982A3-64A0-4216-8327-2015F91D647A.jpeg It just went on and on and on!! What a way to start the day! 5A921A62-E8C0-438E-8D74-64C440274855.jpeg Eventually we hit the 491 then over to Monticello to meet up with the 191 South. It was just before this point where we stopped at a “port of entry”. Weigh station we call them up here. I had been curious how much we weighed for a long time and this scale was empty so I rolled in there and stopped on the scale. 1160 pounds with us on the bike! (830 w/o). Finally knew!!

We headed south on the 191 to catch the 95 just past Blanding. We stopped at a store for Our next stop was going to be Muley point and I wanted to be able to kick back and have some beers at the top while enjoying the view. Well Blanding is a dry town. No beer. I was informed the gas station at the intersection of 191 and 95 had beer...outside the city limits! Ha! So off we went, stopped and opened up the cooler in the crate, loaded it up with ice and beer and off we went!! Along the 95 we saw a guy on a KTM 950 stoped on the side of the road. We went past and turned around. All was good as be was just refueling out of his Rotopax. He said” I’m not even going to ask where you have been!” Haha!! Guess we looked like travellers?
