With our bellies full we headed west over Stevens pass as we always do. Heres a stop we have made before before we commence into the nastyness of West side hustle and bustle traffic and people in a frickin’ hurry. This is Beckler creek road right off of Hwy 2

There you have it!! We made it home...yep in traffic...but safe!! Great MPG and the average speed is pretty cool considering all the sections of putting along. What an awesome adventure. You are so lucky to have someone that is willing to share in these experiences with you. Keep up the great ride reports. I really love your ability to find all the cool little small town saloons and eateries. That's my kind of road trip.

Seems like a lot of RR's feature the stuff that breaks, the bikes that suck, the mods that fail, and the riders who screw up. Ain't it nice to see a couple of real adventurers hit it hard and come home happy, all the bike mods and trailer mods functioned just fine, 1290 reliable all day long, and no crashes thank you. Regarding that so-called tipover in Missoula I don't see no pics and we all know that if there's no pic then it didn't happen so might as well delete that post.

I have now read through the entire thread after recently discovering it. I think it's awesome that the two of you have been able to do all these rides together. Great job documenting it all. I'm looking forward to following along on your future adventures as well.

Howdy Folks!! Its time! Our plan was to attend the North Central Washington weekend event. June 15th and 16th. We have rode alot of the roads up in that area and to us its always been a favorite place to ride. So when @WSobchak posted he was going to have another event to ride the backcountry in this area it was a “do not miss” for us.
We planned on leaving Thursday June 13th and make our way up to Granite Falls and then ride the Mountain loop hwy up to Darrington then over hwy 20 aka North Cascades to Winthrop. CCBEB6AD-C8D6-48E7-A6F5-653E6E4CC9C0.jpeg Here we are loaded back up. This time the crate has 3 inches cut outta the center, and we are bringing pads for on top of the cots. No extra leather clothing or rain gear.

We left the house a bit late due to not having everything packed up the night before. No biggy...not having a go go go attitude makes for a better trip anyway. So plan B kicked in. Instead of riding up to Monroe and then backroads to Granite Falls I decided to make up a bit of time by just slabbing up I 5. Yeah yeah... oh soo pretty...NOT! But once you get through Seattle its really not that bad and again the trusty 1290 KTM makes the slab a pleasure. Well I knew if we just head towards Marysville we would see a sign for Granite Falls. Ummmm...no! We pulled of at a rest area just past Marysville to look at a map. Guess I should have paid closer attention to it before we left as the next exit was for Darrington. This meant a short ride east then more or less back track south east to Granite Falls. Well we decided to just continue on and skip the whole Idea of Granite Falls and the Mountain loop hwy. Figured we had done that, it was a bit late, we had never ridden that section before but most of all more time in Winthrop! And you know thats not to bad of an idea when you’ve got reservations with your name on it at the Rivers Edge cabins!! Ohhh yeah!!! Your own Hot tub on the back deck! Wuuhooo! So off we went!
First stop was in Darrington at the Red roof pub. Nothing special...but outdoor seating is always good. I had the Biscuits and Gravy and she had a burger and fries. Actually not too bad! 2B3A239F-2EA8-4CC1-96AD-AEB4AB550EAF.jpeg I’ll get back to ya on the name of that mountain. “Horse zumzing” ? EDIT: Whitehorse mountain it is! Looks like one too! We made it into Winthrop and checked into our cabin. These things are so deluxe inside its ridiculous. Bedroom, bathroom, living room, kithenette and the french doors to your own deck and hot tub!
61CB230C-CA51-4A5A-9147-D42529B2544D.jpeg They have cabins right on the river too. Ours was next level up with a little creek behind it. Walking distance to town too. 4553B636-7427-46C4-BEDB-BE6649E38FDF.jpeg We walked down to the “Oldschoolhouse brewery”. They have a nice outdoor seating area along the river. Heck I even had their hat on! We sat outside and waited. Looked at the menu and waited. Well then we got up and walked out!! Dorks!! Someone walks in that even has on one of your hats and you cant even greet them with a “howdy” “be right with ya!” ? Nothing!! So we walked up and down the town checking on places to eat and ended up at “3 Fingered Jacks” !! Haha!! Well thats a different story all together!! I’ll save you from that one.
We went back to our cabin, got a hot tub in, I think I had some milk and Rasberry filled powdered donuts and we went to bed! Next morning we got another hot tub in before packing up and making our way east!!
