Well i’ve kicked the thought of doing a ride report a few times. More so now seeings how are trips have been piling up. I’ve posted pics here and there but figured i’d start from the beginning now that this ADV addiction has hit us hard. We find ourselves wanting to ride all the time and once out and about realizing its what we love to do. 7A666663-CD85-4AFD-9F90-4ED02E544D8E.jpeg My love affair with motorcycles started young as with most of us and had a handfull of various dirt bikes growing up. The final one of my youth and highschool this ‘79 Maico 250. Yep I still have it. After my failed attempt at college I was bound to be a blue collar worker. Enter my first good paying job and a new Seca 750. Young punk cruising around and an occasional drag race event here or there. 9A08D0EF-D5BE-46FD-9EE8-EB9AADFFD9FA.jpeg Eventually that bike went away followed up by an FJ for a bit then no street bike. Only the old Maico kickng around but not restored. Later in life it was fixed up after going to the Oregon dunes with it I soon had a hankering with something I could kick ass on racing quads at the dunes. 4550C56A-FA85-498C-9E5E-2D020BF6BB55.jpeg Enter a new 2004 KX500. Turned 40 that year and numbered it 401 hence 40 years old and 1 for every year past that I rode it. Machine was a beast! Took one suped up quad to beat it too. Every blast on that thing made me feel 18 again! Well soon it started to sit. Trips where few and a new career change led me to get rid of it and get a commuter so carpool lane was accessible. B2F6346F-B9B9-4A1B-9E38-61C5E6610865.jpeg Enter the 2013 Concours 14. Back when I bought the Seca I wanted the 900 cc version but the payment was too much so this time in my life I just stepped right up and got the big daddy. Awesome machine! Smooth smooth smooth! So here we have the base that started it all. The Adventures and Moto camping where soon to begin and I had no clue. Up until now it was just riding solo. TO BE CONTINUED...

8A680E91-047F-4618-A7D8-A979C8855943.jpeg Soon HONEYBUNNY and I were taking small trips this one to the Ocean to meet up with my brother. Blue jeans on the scene if you know what I mean! Haha. ! DA290E93-C71A-4B1D-88E9-643A5925CC72.jpeg Heres an early pic of clueless bike loading on our first camp trip staying in a tent. We rode to Eastern Wa that trip and stayed next to Moms 5th wheel along Columbia river. Silly swim air mattresses and all deflating at night. . A3BAA94B-F40A-4461-9854-DA617E93DAF9.jpeg We ended up making multiple trips to Eastern WA and soon realized we loved the ride and the entire area. “Gods Country” we called it. At that time we didnt realize how much more of “Gods Country” in other states we’d actually see. A4778583-E127-4DFF-B71B-FB1E7831370B.jpeg TO BE CONTINUED...

The Olympic peninsula loop. Heard about a place in Forks called CYCLE CAMP and checked it out. Ol’ Bob and Billy run the place and it was a cool experience! Pay what you can afford and your welcome to stay. Great people!

We had made a run for the Hoh rainforrest but turned back due to road construction delays. The beach here was something else! The sheer intensity of what the surf is like during a storm must be something else! And on a side note..chk it.. moving up in the gear dept to some Frogg Toggs!! Hell yeah!!! BTW..this trip was at the end of July 2016.

And on to Cape Flattery. NW tip of WA State. Pretty twisty road that can be really enjoyable but be full on fuel unless you want REG on the Indian res gas pump..opps I had to! 8331DE36-C895-4986-81C9-F007BF5C2D60.jpeg Full image on this place. Just beautiful and a bit offa workout hiking up to lookout. 132AAA62-A983-4122-B87C-BCDE43F5E483.jpeg EB1BC27F-FA13-4054-8971-0AAE1668A85D.jpeg Hey look at that!! So our day started from Forks up to the Cape then to the Sprint boat races in Port Angeles. It was a great plan as even at Cycle Camp he was letting non moto campers camp there because all was full everywhere. Entry here at races gave us camping no problem. And Sprint boat races are a kick in the pants especially if you spend it in the beer garden! Cheers! 43E7454B-1E0B-417A-9A89-CA932C11242C.jpeg We got up early and headed for Hurricane Ridge. Best if you get there early too cause park entrance backs way up later in day. What a BEAUTY of a DAY!! Got up and back down in time to watch the Sprint boats. 3309380D-9009-46B4-9D5A-D3DC4C922D67.jpeg 06045B22-7F07-4536-8C30-12E62909E6F0.jpeg 239E9B3E-EEA7-4E91-85D3-7DA8C6381D09.jpeg After our weekend we made our way back home. Maybe HONEYBUNNY will post up a few more pics of remainder of this trip.

Well looky there! Looks like these two are riding the ferry over to Bambridge Island from Seattle to pick up some used womans leathers(BMW) from a gentleman on craigslist. Leather leather leather! 18AAF0D7-8BF0-4964-A943-315C27268AC2.jpeg We make a few trips to Eastern WA and have done alot of the routes over the cascades. Lake Diablo is always a stunner! E79C8044-4DA5-455F-BCBB-ABA7C98AA9AB.jpeg There are two ferry’s that cross the Columbia or Lake Roosevelt. This ones the Sanpoil. A WSDOT ferry. We have also taken the Indian run ferry further north. Coming out of the canyon on the eastern side of this ferry is one twisty son of a gun!! C5E218D8-F30C-4B99-9C8B-6ECB5967A79E.jpeg 651E71FE-8D35-479F-B980-D1100569F1AA.jpeg

E2FC3A19-4B3E-4CF6-B8F5-BF793326A7DE.jpeg Moving along...so we’ve been having a great time so far. Got decent mesh jackets, leather pants, good helmets, gloves etc. Feeling pretty damn good about riding the big Concours anywhere. Enter October 2016. I got on a KOA kick and planned a trip via KOA (or some anyway) campgrounds. From home to family in San Diego and Phoenix and back! I’ll get it started shortly with pics but this was our topper!! Woah!! BE BACK SHORTLY!! ......

First overnighter was at the Grants pass KOA. Pretty damn cool place. Can just imagine what the water is like in the summer. The ride that day was slab (I5) and sure as shit poured like crazy. Pulled off of freeway and dried out and had food etc. Got back on hwy and to camp..no rain! 0E704AB3-E200-480B-A8A7-90B42FEEF707.jpeg 423355DD-B066-4DD7-94CE-771E6CF718B1.jpeg C65757F1-97FA-4B6B-A54E-6242B43168E7.jpeg 05D0EB44-EC90-4EE5-9819-97ECE82FC4BA.jpeg I know this report isnt as sweet as most. From Grants Pass OR we blasted our way to Los Banos CA. Believe that was a 475 mile day. Rediculous. First time lane splitting in Sacramento let alone the blistering 85mph++ freeway speeds they do down there. I was glad to have put on a new set of Pilot 4 GT’s before we left thats for sure. Bike was heavy and haulin’. We made it to Los Banos KOA about 7ish that night. Enough time for setup and store run for beer. Next day it was a minor backtrack to the start of MINES RD. My cousin said not to miss it and it didnt disappoint!! Amazing I had the balls to rail that loaded pig like I did back then. We got to “THE JUNCTION” for lunch and beer! Seeings how it was earlier and a weekday we had the place to ourselves! Yeah here we go!! So maybe one mis calculates a bit... Los Banos to Santa Margarita. Sheeeiit. By now the sweat is rolling outta my sleeves and my gloves have lost 50% of their dye and they look like a chunk of salt. Haha! Not quite but close. Had to loose the coats..t-shirts it is even at speed..bad bad bad! So close to Santa Margarita but oh so far. Only one thing to do. Gonzales exit and a shady spot behind the store. Milk crates and Ten barrel IPA!! Ahhhh! 358B5E3E-3164-4B2A-82BF-3E784135E4DB.jpeg C619F824-994B-49A8-9F04-905050348AC5.jpeg We made it to the KOA in Santa Margarita! Cabin this night. After a nice stop for lunch along the beach in Santa Barbera it was down to Acton KOA. PRetty much the worst KOA ever!! Besides the blown up showers, theres train running right by. Oh well.... Those train tracks go all the way down to San Diego. It's a real pita camping along the beach. The trains don't run all night long though. It's a real "wake up call" in the morning. errrr.

So from the dive KOA we made our way east towards San Bernardino. Once on hwy 10 we got off in Banning to hit the 243 up to Idyllwild. Once again... HEAVEN !!! Twisty little sucker!!! We got to a pull off/ lookout at the top and had a great view. Talked with a fellow motorcyclist who was kickin’ back with his daughter and asked if food was ahead. Of course he was from Idyllwild and steered us to a bitchin’ place in town. Outside, great food and beer and some ol’ cool cat that could play you any song! B4F27A18-C778-45ED-B1F4-E09F43286DE5.jpeg FF65DCF0-6D7C-49F9-82B0-65B0183AC545.jpeg 6A38594A-688A-4DDB-9BF0-B03DBDECA5A8.jpeg 126B5AF8-4F6C-427C-92BB-659DC0E1EDB2.jpeg So we had a great time here and really didnt want to leave. We finally got outta there and headed south to Mountain center. I was supposed to keep going south but ended up going west on 74. Oh what a bummer that turned out to be...NOT!!!! We blasted the banked switchbacks down the mountain and after we got to the bottom I realized I was going the wrong way! I told her we had to turn around and go back up it and we both laughed with enjoyment. So back up we went! Wuuuhoooo!! We fianlly met my cousin who was camping further down on the high desert plateau and the following day to his place in San Diego. Great ride overall but next time less freeway and keep some of the same sweet routes.

SWe did a few day trips outta San Diego. Went and saw Bob and walked the waterfront. We toured the subs and smaller ships which was neat. I had got the royal tour couple years prior on the MIDWAY. Class instructor had free access and we went deep into the carrier where regular tours cant go.
