Well after our test rides I found a new 2016 “T” model further north from home a week later. We were hooked. I had them run some numbers, went back home to mellow out and the next day went back and made a deal!! Here we are on our maiden voyage!! 864062F4-7677-4D8B-9F17-517B171FA240.jpeg

A week later we went for a day trip. “oyster fest” in Anacortes WA. Its a pretty big event up here more so for the “biker” crowd so we just rode out to Washington park and had a picnic lunch. 4FFD35EC-7786-400C-9CD5-301B4B9C11B0.jpeg 9293C5A8-AF66-46BA-A257-40A694E00CBD.jpeg Notice by now I painted crash bars white 7BFECC74-F885-4AE6-AC67-0DA4C084E5E8.jpeg Couldnt ride up here without checking it out so here we are riding through town 5D3ABD21-D30B-4754-87EF-131FCDCACC25.jpeg

Just a quik word on these bikes. There was a time I thought the Concours was as good at it gets and for good reason. But once you ride the 1290 you realize you have entered a whole new world. The inline four of the 1400 is as smooth as silk and to this day still impresses me. But once again the 1290 always shines. The raw power and growl of the 160hp along with the well balanced super smooth chassis make the KTM one of the most amazing machines. For us riding 2up most of the time it is hard to beat. We still take the Concours on rides but what we had in store in the future on the KTM was well..simply amazing. 28BB3006-F0BD-48DE-B1DA-E49548DA3E88.jpeg

We got lucky in Sept-Oct 2017. Lots of “day trippin” . Here is a jaunt to the Ocean and of course a cool pub we have now frequented a few times. 924D8327-4398-4170-8362-747F000AFA78.jpeg Heres my Avatar pic! Alright its time for the good shit! By now I had gotten Honeybunny heated gear. Vest, foot insoles and gloves. I mounted a nice HELLA 12v plug in right next to her on the bike. I had the factory heated grips and both had the heated seats. Enter November 6th 2017. We headed for Capital forrest to do some exploring and once we got there this is what we saw to our surprise!! 70BEA2D8-CAF0-4C70-9DF9-7FF749BF23BC.jpeg We made it to this point on the Forrest service road. The stock Conti Trail attack 2’s said no more!! Great place to swill down some IPA’s! After our first off road excursion and mud on bike it was time for some offroad worthy improvements. Made some mounts to raise the front fender 3/4 of an inch, mounted up some mudflaps and installed a set of Heidenau K60’s. Wuuuhooo here we go!! Life is gonna get real good! 84265FC5-842B-4785-9B9D-49F12E9037F4.jpeg A7B7DB07-DD45-4057-972A-4EDB3AAFCDD6.jpeg 8A38A19A-9660-4C0E-BD83-7D850FBCE7EF.jpeg

Well they say if at first you dont suceed try again! So two weeks later back to Capital forrest we went. The snow was gone and we made it to the top of “Rock Candy mtn”. Great views of the Puget Sound and beyond. 95345C8F-9D9D-42FA-9AB1-A1434639A512.jpeg 7EBDE28E-BF34-46A1-8BED-2F82CB933E0B.jpeg B8122558-2022-4C3C-92DA-DCAA25854680.jpeg Tires worked great this time around. So fast forward a few months. Jan. and Feb. of 2018 and lucky enough to be able to go on a group ride with some oldschool cool cats outta Olympia. Well thats where we meet anyway. Usually a smorgasbord of bikes but fear not these boys haul some serious balls! Of course we are always 2up and the big KTM sings a tune chasing these FF’s !! 9FAB099F-7EC5-402C-ABDE-4169E2CB1AAF.jpeg 7B1D15CD-3451-4391-ADF2-330D65AF053A.jpeg 43DF1B4B-8931-41A5-880E-94974B60B19E.jpeg

You can almost see Honeybunny's transformation into an Adventure queen!..:clap........Funny, we had about the same bikes. Old MXers, then I had an '02 FJR 1300 (which Kawi had to one up with your bike) then an '05 and '07 GS.....to present steeds.

March 11, 2018. Time for a ride! Seems theres always things to do around the house but a ride always prevails. From Tacoma to Leavenworth is 150 miles each way. So we ride over Snoqualmie pass then Blewett pass to Leavenworth then Stevens pass on the way back. Perfect 300 mile loop! 6EBF92CE-8D02-441E-AA19-22F6A2327CC4.jpeg D920B401-CD21-4A74-893A-9361375A5F10.jpeg This here is Meunchen haus. Been here countless times. Outdoor seating with heat, your choice of 10 different types of brats and a great selection of local beer. Oh and I almost forgot to mention 20 different mustards and of course sauerkraut! 10C1FC6E-11FF-4A06-9113-C2626742454B.jpeg Pretty cool being a MOTO at a ski area!! Before I move on with some more trips I just want to say something about this whole ADV thing. Its got me by the balls ok? This website has become part of my life. Sure sometimes too much. The people I have watched let alone met are the best. The threads I watch can reach levels I dont even want to read anymore but they eventually mellow out. Now the events we are soon to attend are without a doubt pure heaven and worth every effort it takes to attend them. The threads about the bikes or equipment...well they seem to make one spend some money...well at times. I try and build things for myself the way I feel it should be and then only I spend the money. Of course i’ve spent enough. Great gear is a must and I dont look back. Farkling the bike or what have you just seems over the top with these ADV machines. The Concours didnt have the same program. These Full blown ADV partial offroad machines are a different story and I dig it! Its a new world out there with these units. Just sayin’ my Brothers! Dont care what brand you ride but I know this is a welcome addiction. Cheers X 1000 !!!

Congrats on the new ride! Being hooked now, you two should look into coming to Death Valley nOObs ride in March. You'd have a blast on that bike. There are TONS of great roads/trails throughout DV.

Lets keep going! The best stuff is yet to come but first some “day trippin”. March 24th! Not to far from Tacoma is the cool town of Port Townsend. You can catch a ferry over to Whidby Island from here and visit Fort Casey if you like. At Fort Casey they have two of the giant cannons on display along with the bunkers used to protect the Puget Sound during WW2. Really a beautiful area whether in the town or over on the island. So much to see!! Heres one of our favorite watering holes which is “dog friendly” and usually has a few running around. 63B9D769-3ABE-42A3-AF5A-AA699736F635.jpeg 5EE5BC6D-467E-40AA-BDD2-7B42CB14BB72.jpeg On this day we were lucky enough to see the USS John C Stennis cruising by. Here we are on April 9th. We decided to ride down to Astoria OR. We rode down the coast then took the bridge over. Ummm yeah thats enough to make your ***hole pucker up with some wind going on. Its starts off nice and flat but then soon rises up up and up!! Throw some wind in there and you will be the happiest person to be coming down the other side!! We found a nice place in town (brewery) to have a great lunch. Wish I had some more pics but will surely revisit this place. Excellent day ride!! 70ACF560-A5D3-4D88-9F96-167A752463A4.jpeg
