Ok!! We are in one piece and so is the bike!! Onward towards Oroville and real close to the Canadian border and the town of Nighthawk. We make it to Oroville and ask a local and his wife getting into their pickup “any good place to eat in this town?” Nope its closed. I tell him i’m headed east an he replies “ohh!!! Chesaw tavern!! Best bison burgers anywhere! “ looks at the bike and replies”and on that thing you’ll make it in 20minutes!” CHESAW here we come!! More of Gods country too! We came from the left on the map. (West) Had we not done the creek crossing we would have had to ride slab all the way from south of Tonasket. No thanks! Now from Oroville to Republic?? Oh my what a twisty canyon blasting mutha we were in for from Chesaw on!!! Ok my Brothers! So we left off in Chesaw with wet boots..haha! Back on the road we headed to Republic WA. Its pretty much out there but IMHO a cool little town. Touristy during that season for sure but we have caught it during down times. We usually stop at a place called Madonna’s for food and drink then continue on. Awesome country and roads up here and would surely delight anyone. It had been a long day for us so we got a cheapo hotel, changed into dry street clothes etc and headed down the street to Madonna’s. The gal that owns it is really cool and we always have great conversation with her and the lady works with her is also sweet. And with most places the locals are always bending your ear. Will be interesting to see what it will be like next time as we have heard it had been sold. We had a great night and the following day headed south down hwy 21. Another one of our fav’s.

We headed south and eventually take Bridge Creek road. As with most of the roads up here this ones another beauty! It isnt well travelled and ends at an Indian town called Inchelium. It climbs and twists it way from one end to the other and seems to go on forever! 1043125B-BFC0-4E7F-932A-93C8A5653002.jpeg 1BAF581D-5EAD-447F-8DFA-B1E4A2E16C75.jpeg DB429E2C-7605-4D4A-A636-2B0FCEA7F133.jpeg Eventually you come to where you catch the ferry. Look at that BAD BOY sitting there. It had just got the snot kicked out of it in the backcountry then flogged on twisty high speed canyon carving all while hauling a load. What a machine!!! 52676F91-6921-44D5-8615-6C43D5663800.jpeg

So here we are crossing Lake Roosevelt. This is one of two ferries that cross and this one is run by the Indian tribe and is the one furthest north. Its an oldie but does the job. 551CE9AA-32EE-48C8-AFBB-E44BD53FA93A.jpeg D71C5048-6FA8-4174-9CEC-E08C9D6A3251.jpeg Once to the other side we head south along hwy 25 along Lake Roosevelt then down to a small town called HUNTERS. Now we are at “the” all time favorite road/area that made us want to move to Eastern Washington. We still hope to real soon but might have to stick to something a little closer to a bigger city. You know when you start getting up in age you think about how long it might take to get to a hospital in an emergency situation. 20 years ago wouldnt have cared. And yes its a pleasure to ride!! 56D1EF3C-6C24-44BB-986B-93439CBAD299.jpeg After about another 1 1/2 or so we end up at my Sisters for a few days visiting and enjoying our time. Next up will be our trek into IDAHO and beyond! Cheers!!

Shall we continue on? I think so. Well we had a nice visit with the family in the Spokane area as usual but it was time to ride. The plan was to meet @Ladybug in route to visit @Live2Ride and @Bgunn in Conkling near the southern tip of Lake Coeur D’ Alene. They have a wonderful boat repair facility and seeings how @Ladybug was putting on the Wallowa jamboree it was time to meet her and some fellow ADV’rs from the Spokane theead which by now I followed.

I thought I had taken more pics from the visit but I guess not. Our visit was wonderful and after checking out the shop which it seems is a hub for fellow riders we went down to the marina and had a great lunch!! Was awesome meeting everyone and will go back here for sure at some point!! Thanks LB!!! After leaving Conkling Marina We made our way east towards Avery. The road is called St Joe River scenic byway and its a beauty!! 709D9C5E-4ADD-4325-AA08-4A9346B09184.jpeg FFF7A3EB-C36F-4B0C-B39A-3425459CA810.jpeg DA557E3C-C148-4636-BA5A-94D5671BCFD5.jpeg And once we got to Avery it was time to head north along part of the IDBDR but mainly known as Moon pass. It takes you up to Wallace ID and follows alot of old rail bed through old tunnels. So cool! Sorry I have video but no pics of tunnels and havent got vid dialed. Here we are at the top of Moon pass I believe. There were still a few traces of snow around. After this point it went back down and ended up in the town of Wallace. Once we came out of Wallace we headed east on the Interstate towards Montana. It had been recommended that we take Patty creek road to Hwy 12 the LOLO motorway. This way we wouldnt run all the way into Missoula and save alot of time. Ohhh time??? Yeah get that big loaded 1290 out on that freeway and you’ll have no problem making time!! Crap!!Speedlimits in Montana kick ass!! 4D19FEA4-0717-46AD-A393-00D5CEDBE2AA.jpeg Just a couple pics from what we thought was stupid. Ready for a break I had heard from an old boss “you gotta check out” The million dollar bar? Whatever its called. Here you go. Stupid tourist gift shop in front and a weird bar in back with all the coins. Wow whoopy ding dong. I think he needs to go to Jackson and check out that bar! (Sorry Ken!) one beer and we bailed!! Ack on the hwy ripping it to Patty creek exit!! 687796B1-AC18-4B5C-9273-B61BECFC4FE1.jpeg

Well well well. What we had in store next was another major highlight! As if this day let alone trip hadnt been good enough so far. We left Riggins and knew which way to go but still we were entering uncharted territory. You follow Salmon river rd along the river of course with nothing but sheer cliffs on both sides. Cross over the river by bridge and just keep going. Damn ...how far is this FS 246?? (Without going back and double checking I believe thats the number) And what the heck kinda road can come outta this deep canyon?? Ahhhh good things come to those who wait!!

Super soothing hot water! If you want to burn yourself just hop in the small pools under the shed there!!
