    Thank you, Rick.

If you want to tickle the "I can't believe I'm doing this" part of your consciousness, I would suggest Rodcot Karp. Even shuttling Spring Creek, you still have a gut wrenching climb. But then, you arrive here.

See what I mean about those dogs?

They are offended by following a BearCAT, but other than that, they are fully committed to the cause.

I have to say, I was a put off a little by the idea of trailering when we could ride trails we hadn't been on right out of the house. But the call of Sargents is strong.

This viewpoint, or vista, could be in Virginia or Pennsylvania, but it's 10,000+ feet. Nice place.

After you clear Monarch Crest going south, the Colorado Divide Trail takes on a slightly different character. It is gorgeous, and we are getting over into the Rio Grande (Big River) drainage.

This is the divide. It is reminiscent of Routt County's divide.

    I like the flowers.

There were a few gates to get through. The last one was a work of art.

The entire day, the smoke from Oregon (?) built up. It was like an eclipse. Weird light.

There were a few sketchy places on the run back down to Tomichi Creek from the top, but wow, what a nice place. I'm glad we went to Sargents. Is there more?

The ladies hiked to the top of Mount Yale this day. We got back to the place to find them one on each sofa. We got to work on dinner. OK, hang on. No one in their right mind, unless they're in really good shape, would suggest a strenuous bike ride the next day. I am just trying to keep up.

I got pretty twisted after that ride, so I woke up a tad hung over. The ladies had done Teocalli Ridge twice and wanted to go back. To me, that means it's enjoyable, but I sometimes forget who I'm dealing with. Just to be clear, this is on bicycles. It's a hard ride (push), and I was suffering just a tad. The sun is merciless. No pictures.

All that being said, I drank a bunch of water and took a nap when we got back. Some dudes I met on the trail said that Mount Tilton was the end of Cement Creek and was easy if there was no traffic. I jumped on my WR and headed out. I promise, no singletrack.

You're not exactly on top on Mount Tilton, but you are looking down into Taylor River.

I saw these guys go over to the Mount Tilton Trail pass. They were still sitting there with helmets off, so I figured I could go over there. We chatted, but then it was time for dinner, so I turned back.

Italian Mountain. That is Cement Creek Road. You can see those switchbacks from Star Pass, I think.

There was a show on TWC about gem hunters, they were climbing up and mining talus slopes like that.

There was an axe wielding murderer or a ninja behind each tree. Don't do trail work with earplugs in. They can get that much closer before you hear them.

    Fringed orchid.

Some kind of crazy beetle. He flew away

Two ninjas can hide behind this tree.

I had a set of tires with 2-300 miles left in them and a big trip coming up. The dude in the white Miata was laying down some sweet lines.

This road is pretty rough, but it affords some really nice views.

    This road is too smooth.

    This road is just right.

New tires and brakes. Layla was heading to the Gauley, and there was a cabin involved. Sure, I'll go in for a room.

I took it on the chin on 221 and 16 to cut it down to a 9 hour trip.

    West Jefferson

I crossed all 3 mountains on VA 16 unimpeded.

16 just gets better as you go into West Virginia. The action is punctuated with towns of various sizes, but there are relatively long sections of pure sport bike bliss.

There are many interesting structures as you pass through this country. I wanted to check this place out, but as I was about to get off and look, a small convoy of UTVs and ATVs turned off the highway and went into the courtyard of this building. Maybe next time.

I bet you could pick this place up for a song.

That's all I got from Saturday. We grilled and hot tubbed, and then I went down hard.

I was on it by 9:00 on Sunday. Maybe this will afford me some time to go off track a bit.

    I crossed the Gauley.

The Meadow. As I was cruising down WV 41 at 60 mph, I could hear rapids.

41 is a great highway, and there was no traffic.

I cruised through Beckley to pick up 16 again. At Crab Orchard, I busted a left. Wow! What a road.

I missed a left in there and ended up back out on 16. I have to go back and find the rest of it, but Sunday wasn't the day. Time to move on.

Stuck in Welch again. The weekend was simultaneously Coal Heritage and Never Forget 9/11. The streets were taped off, but there was no one around. I tried to find the detour but eventually ran some one way streets backwards.

This was my first trip in maybe 2 years. Might be longer. I definitely want to go back.

Found a new to me road over Labor Day. Hwy 72 they say… one lane sweet heaven I say. Love finding new ones up there!!

    Between Parsons and Seneca Rocks.
Wife said I took a wrong turn. I beg to differ…

WV 72 is a cool road. A similar road is Broomstraw (I think) going up from the new at Hinton. It's chipped out of a cliff like something from Speed Racer. So many roads...
