Nice Sunday afternoon ride to Makapu'u Lookout Point. My Airhawk cruiser medium is flat again. 10 years old and the creases are starting to rupture. I just patched it up again. So I decided to get some PT in and ran most of it not realizing the entire path was uphill. Amazing views. Running down hill was the easy part.

It's kind of like running on a treadmill while you have the full motion video playing on the screen except it's real and you don't have to listen to lousy mainstream gym music.

Ended Sunday evening with a swim at Waimanalo beach. Just pull up at the side of the road and you're right on the sand. Loads of fish in the water.

You are finding the right spots. If you are in search of some of the “unknown/secret” places, send me a PM.

I drove past Turtle Bay briefly. Isn't it a private a resort though? I did not think anyone could walk up in there.

We go into Turtle Bay quite often, just walk on out to the pool bar. Head over to watch the waves. It's all good.

Turtle Bay has private and public beaches. Just ride in and ask where to go. The public beach is good for snorkeling.

^^ They are famous (I guess) for their Mia-tias and Sunset celebration. As you look West it sets over the water, local musicians, small cliff edge at the water front with waves (winter)...touristy but also a cool scene. As mentioned both public and private, just stay off the lounge chairs and refrain from grabbing one of those plush white towels and all is good. If you can handle any dirt I would go West along the North Shore on Farrington Hwy until it turn to a dirt road, really cool part of the island. Maybe make the hike to Ka'ena Point. Dual sport Heaven = Ka'ena Point Trail

I will check it out on the Strom. I am trying to use up the current set of shinko 704's as I have the knobby 805's waiting to go on before I venture in dirt.

Not sure, I've only hit the public beach. I misdirected you when stating "private" instead of "public". I fixed it.

So in 1973 Elvis performed in the first concert transmitted via satellite globally to 1.5 billion people from what is now the Neil Blaisdell stadium. This is known as the Aloha from Hawaii concerts.

There were 2 concerts, a rehearsal

    And the actual satellite concert

Both of which are epic Elvis at his peak.

When he arrived by helicopter as seen here

He arrived at the old Ala Wai Heliport. This Heliport was the filming location used in Hawaii 5 O and Magnum P.I. for T.C.'s. Island Hopper scenes. It is no longer a Heliport partly harbor, partly a free parking lot. You can tell from it's location is is next to the Waikiki Hilton Lagoon and the hotel. The lamp posts are still there today.

Every Friday at 7.45 pm the Waikiki Hilton have a free firework show over Waikiki Beach.

Nice pics of Town...If you find yourself back in Country, a cool side road and destination is to go to the Kahuku MX track, nice ride up to the track. Relax and watch the riders doing laps. Another option is Dillingham Airfield/Glider port. They have a quiet public beach where you can watch the Skydivers drifting back to the airfield, a decent road out there is the 803 near the pineapple fields (which I imagine you have already ridden).

We came there several years ago and did the cruise on the Pride of America. Beautiful doesn't hardly do it justice, I would love to come back and rent a bike for a day or two. Thanks for the great pics.

I'll probably take a ride up the NW corner. Over not been on 803 I normally take the route to the right past the coffee farm when I head to the north shore.

Apparently there is a nudist beach up in that area.

Your welcome for the pictures. Hawai'i is beautiful. The only downsides are expensive cost of living, too many people and state laws.

There is a statue of the King outside the Neal Blaisdell Arena. Barely anything has changed to it since 1973.

Great thread, my wife and I were there in June.

Check out China Walls near Hawaii Kai. Watching the sunset from there as the waves crash on the walls is amazing (photo) IMG_1896_Moment.jpg . There's a good hike in Hawaii Kai also, Kuliouou Ridge.

    Lovin' the thread!

I've been showing my good buddy who grew up and still has property in Makaha on Moua St., he's loving this to.

Got any pics of Makaha or Aki's Beach?

    Thanks for sharing.

Thanks I will check it out and report back. The places people post the better. Oahu is a lot bigger than it looks on a map.
