Thank you. I looked at them places on the map and they are on the West side. To be honest I have not been to the West side much but if you recommend to go there I will. I avoid going near Wainaie because of various stories, some people have said it's not so bad these days. I don't know. The furthest I've been over there is Keawaula Beach. That was the first beach I went to prior to my scooter and motorcycling arriving. It is easier to take them to the beach for easier parking for such a pain when you have to wash off the sand, get dressed and then put all the riding gear back on . I found the vacation home spot where Elvis took his last vacation in Kailua, 5 months before his death. The house and pool is long gone. You can tell from the masonary pattern on the wall it's the same place. While the A frame adjacent to the property remains.

Took a ride to the Ala Moana Beach Park near Waikiki. As soon as I got to the traffic I regretted that decision. The roads here suck. So if I remember correctly the speed limits there are on the low side all over, do ever get to use fifth and sixth gear? Can't remember the speed on the expressway form the airport to downtown.

Great pics, Elvis was a bit before my time but cool to see some of the last photos of him (I am more of the Island 98.5 type-listening to them now...funny morning show for Oahu). Nice pics of Town and Diamond Head, horrible traffic there. Do not worry at all if you are going to the West Side. Take the road all the way to Ka' ena point. Check out Makaha Beach Park. Stop and have lunch in Wai' anae (I like Aloha Poke). The locals are harmless if you are alone and just cruising. Make some small talk, things have changed on that side, more aloha to Haole's especially if you are alone, The main thing is to be low key, not acting up, not being loud (not being a typical Ugly American) In that area, if you show respect; you will get it in return. If you are 1 or 2 individuals and not a large group, people seem to open up more (as it is anywhere in the world). Use common sense, don't leave anything valuable unattended. There is a large amount of fishing on that stretch. Would be cool to bring a rod and cast out...Looking forward to more pics, time for the West-Side!

My wife and I drove do Waikiki one evening when we were staying in Hawaii Kai on our trip in June; we hated it! It was everything you’d expect in a tourist trap a la Cheesecake Factory, Red Lobster, etc.

We did get a chuckle out of all the fake weddings and photographers along the beaches from Ala Moana park to Waikiki Beach.

It’s apparently a HI law that every place must provide public beach access. Even the swanky resorts like Disney and Turtle Bay have public parking and free public beach access....we were super impressed with that.

There are 2 sections of interstate that are 60, I think 1 section on the west side that is 65. Most of the roads are in terrible condition so I rarely drive my car anymore. Airport to downtown is 55.

Thanks for the info. I will make my way around there eventually. Every time I seem to do anything I usually end up near Waimanalo or on the windward side somewhere.

You are dead right about the whole Waikiki area. Tourist trap for sure. I do not have trouble getting parking for beaches especially on 2 wheels since I can park in the small spots. It's just changing into and out of gear is a pain especially removing sand and what not.

I went for a quick swim at Lanikai last night.

Up on round top road. My aux lights work really well, I never get the chance to use them.

^^^ I would kindly disagree but everyone has their own sense of situational comfort, it is a real nice stretch of coastline...now I would not go in the middle of the night but in the daytime you will be fine, but then again one time coming out of MDR in CA, I had driven way, way too far west on W. Slauson Ave when I mistaking should have gone E. Slauson to a friends house. I made it out just fine, even stopped for gas but all spidey senses were going off, my head was on a swivel and I did not waste anytime getting out of the area FAST.

You may have seen this place on Instagram for it's entrance road. It's spoiled by hipsters taking cringeworthy pictures. I see it most days. It's a great place to run, lots of hills and very serene. It was built by the U.S. Army Core of Engineers for flood control. Just scooting around running the trails. I've got used to the humidity for the most part. I've never lived somewhere that has 12 months of riding season.

We took a ride to Bellows and there is a public and private part of the beach, beach camping, cabins etc. Once I get a new tent I will camp there. I also need to get a cooler that will fit inside one of the Givi outback trekker side cases for cold drinks.

I am going to start rotating usage of the bike and scooter every other month just spread out the mileage. The pcx 10k service is due so I'll be doing that during the next few weeks.

Earlier this week my new PCX seat arrived from Bangkok. On first appearance it looks like it is good quality but time will tell. The price was reasonable however the shipping was almost as much as the seat itself.

It is comfy in comparison to the stuff seat. I also had the butt brace in the seat move back a few inches as the PCX wasn't designed for tall people. I'm now considering pulling the trigger on a Corbin seat for the Vstrom.

Well I attempted to make my way over to the West side to watch the sunset but I got to the beach too late. Having just one road to Waianae, it takes forever to go anywhere.

    IMG_20191102_175634.jpg

Being the month of November Ill be riding the Vstrom to rotate the miles. I took the opportunity to do the pcx's 10k service myself. The valves were out of spec. Inspecting and adjusting them is the easy part, removing the plastics bodywork is a nightmare.

    IMG_20191103_131406.jpg
    IMG_20191103_150240.jpg

It's sure nicer to have the power and comfort of the Vstrom again.

I went back to Robin's nest and now builders have finally turned up to Robin Masters estate.

It's good to see the property be restored even though they demolished the villa, however the property should go to a more deserving person. The tidal pool itself is protected so the owner cannot restrict who swims there, although everyone has a price.

I recently took a trip to Ka'ena point on the most North Western part of the island. Hiked around 10 miles back and forth. You can also access the area from the Waianae side but that's a total of 16 miles.

    Photo Blur_Nov102019_180811.jpg

The hiking trail is along the sand. There is a Jeep trail also which you need a pass for.

This is the Jeep trail, a big adv bike will make it for the most part. There are a couple of deep mud pits however.

As for the weather there is no Fall or winter. I saw high 80s today.

    Beautiful scenery, thanks for sharing!

I remember watching Elvis' concert from Hawaii on black & white tv as a kid.
    Thanks for posting the video.

Ride safe, and keep sharing your pictures.
Hopefully one day I will get to experience it myself.
