I'm planning on hauling my DRZ up on a visit to family in Kokomo in July or August.

Now all I have to do is figure out which GPS to buy!

Let me know when you have more of the gravel route, north of Indy, completed. My parents live in Zionsville. That sounds like a fun way to ride from Chicago to their place. Thanks, Dave.

You can mark Tippecanoe County off the list of counties with gravel roads. They are all supposed to be paved or chip and seal by 2008.

    No kidding. :lol3

I have ridden all over trying to locate some dual sport stuff around here and there just isn't any. There are several twisty roads but just NOTHING for dual sport.

and can someone explain to me why every hillbilly south of 40 and north of the Ohio River thinks their clapped-out dirt bike is worth $600- 1,000 above book value?

I have run out of gravel north of Indy about 100 miles... Its all dirt-glue...

I will have to figure out if I want to head NorthEast or NorthWest from Russiaville on.. I make it from just north of Indy to Russiaville on gravel.

Any insight anyone has would be helpful.

I have an odd schedule, but if you want to meet up sometime to work on this route...let me know.

I'l also start exploring down in that area instead of heading into Michigan on my rides...but I have seen very little gravel in the northern part of Indiana.

Anyone been up around Warren and Fountain counties (i.e. Attica)? Quite a few scenic dirt and gravel roads run through there.

I'm bikeless for awhile but still wander the backroads in a Jeep. I used to live in the general area and spent many weekends exploring (both on a not-so-gravel-friendly street bike and a Jeep TJ, now an XJ) what roads went where. While I'm not sure if there are any "straight-through" unpaved roads from each end of the county, it wouldn't surprise me if there was.

Hope to pick up a bike next spring - withdrawl is setting in sooner than expected... :eek1

But, if I can help in the effort just let me know.

Took this last weekend. There's a path that leads to a pretty amazing overlook that starts where I parked. I'm not sure who owns the path that leads back there, but it would be a piece of cake on 2 wheels. People used to dump trash and other unneeded large appliances back there, so they've blocked full-sized access with mounds of dirt. If anyone's interested I can get a GPS coord of it.

Check out things like the original Lincoln Highway route through Northern Indiana (or the 1928 'revised' route). The Lincoln Highway was touted as "The First Transcontinental Roadway for Automobiles" and connected New York to San Francisco. If you need a place to pitch a tent along the way, just let me know.

Also, you can ride part of the original Yellowstone Trail in Northern Indiana, which promised "A Good Road from Plymouth Rock to Puget Sound." Again, if you need a place to camp, just let me know.

I'm sure if I ride down there I'll find the only one the county missed. :eek1

Always, yet May is out due to other rides and first week on June.
That leave about 5 weekends between the first week of June and the last week of July..
I'll be out the last week of July and the first week of August (TAT).

After that it will open up again to more hometown exploring.

Al, hey its Scott, any plans on a fall ride down south like we talked about a few weeks ago. You remeber at the wing place where all women had on really small t-shirts and KTM colored shorts. I shopping and hopefully will have a worthy bike with in the next month.
