Where'd you get the filter, did I miss that?

Also, the 650 has the old unreliable silver Fuel Pump Controller. Get a black one before it fails.

I think you can get them at more locations as time passes. I got this one from Motorworks in the UK.

Holy Crap Batman. Got any more pics?

No, part 13 is a couple of screws. You want #2 which is the whole thingamajig.

The silver ones died out ages ago and cannot be bought. A new one is black, yes.

Butt, you can get a whole low mile PUMP ASSY off Ebay for less than just the FPC. I think there's one in Alberta now at Best Offer. That is how I dealt with the filter. I changed the whole assy with a 2012 unit for $99 back in '14. Preventative maintenance and my bike has never failed.

With 2 F bikes, you need to get a spare FPC one way or another. Oh, and hers would benefit from a new RR as well. Look it up! :rofl

    There ya go.

Yes, it's a minor upgrade and there are those that say ditch it entirely for a Series style but meh, Cool Canada doesn't fry alts and headlights so much.

The older version was stolen from the Single F bikes along with the stator. Simple bikes with a computer but no Canbus. BKW figured out that the F Twins prefer a tad higher voltage for all the ECU's so they upped it on all the F (and now G) bikes.

I bought a wiring harness complete off Ebay and they'd left the RR and a bunch of switches and sensors connected up so it was a steal at $100.

It's up to you, since you're getting he hang of these bikes.....

many thanks Reaver. I'll have a look on eBay and see if I can get a spare for both bikes. Today is the clutch adjustment for dummies you wrote up. I'll check both bikes. Then maybe see what I can do about the 650 headlight reflector issue. Yup turning black just above the bulb on the main beam.

    Thanks again. mike

Somehow I missed this tread - reaver will have to wait till he's back of vacation to kibitz me over that ... :lol2

    Nice thread Mike ... thanks.
I've had a search running on eBay for about a year now, and for the first time ever it came back with a hit on the KL 315 filter this AM,
Filter is available for about $33 USD including international shipping from eBay seller:

If you haven't changed your filter regularly over it's life, I would change the pump as well. They are readily available on ebay, I picked one up for 14 bucks as a spare, and used one from Quantum Fuel Systems when my pump started playing up. Both pumps were plug and play, no wiring changes needed. This is how my pump looked after 50,000 kilometres.

    Nice Thread Mike :)
Is there is a recommended mileage interval for replacing the filter on the F800GS?

I just swapped out my assembly today - got one off of ebay for $100 that was from a 2013 model bike with less than 2K miles on it thanks to @Reaver
So new pump, new filter, and black FPC @ $100 ... a deal!

I used a brass (non-sparking :1drink) drift to remove the locking collar.
Pulling up on the tabs were not working for me to remove the assembly so... as I'm standing there with beer in hand going ... now what ...
The sober part of my brain says: :y0! use that hundred year old paint can opener you have in tool box ... (looks like a stubby screwdriver but the end of the blade is rolled over a bit).
It worked like a champ for popping out the assembly!

I took the two screws out of the outlet nipple and was able to remove the little double-o-ringed bugger without issue................
