All the way from New Zealand to Idaho and the LoLo motorway.
Exactly what that crank offset gives you. It’s made to sound like a v-twin, which it does. But, that comes at the cost of feeling like one as well. The KTM 790 models do the same. I test rode a 790 Duke recently and was turned off by its v-twin type vibrations. Thanks to the AF-XIED air/fuel module to eliminate the overly lean burn, my F700 is very smooth.
I like having a 19” vs 21” front wheel, less top heavy under-seat tank and vibration free twin engine (with AF-XIED). I’m happy that I didn’t dump a bunch more money into the 750 with essentially zero gain in horsepower. (The arrogant German horsepower increase hold-back still pisses me off).
Other than vibes, the 850 sounds like a great upgrade. Not trying to rain on your parade and glad you like your new bike. Too bad AF-XIED won’t fix your vibes.
Mexican Hat Utah.
Just put some new tires on the old F 800 GS. So far so good on the road,in the sand or in the mud. starting to like the Mitas E07
Good to hear. What are you replacing? I'm thinking of those for my next set after my heidenau. Probably 70-30 road to off-road
the stock Michelin tires

So not too loud on the road? Good traction on wet tarmac?
a little loud at low speeds but thats it. And as far as wet or dry pavement the first 300 miles is questionable but after there broke in yes good traction
Just got back from a trip around Southeastern Ohio, had some great riding.
They have a slight roar and vibration up to about 20 mph after that they are really pretty quiet. And as far as pavement both wet and dry I’ve gotten 400 miles on them now and they are gripping great. But when you first get them they are slick both on dry and wet pavement. I have no problem with them gripping in the twisties now and I’m completely comfortable with them but like i said there is a break in period.
Very helpful- thanks. Ever ride Heidenaus? I'd like to try something different but definitely want good road- good dirt mix.
i have on my G650gs i had before this bike. And I really didn’t like them at all. They were Quieter but wet roads to me were scary as hell. In the mud they didn’t clean out well. They were okay in sand and i got good mileage out of them. Now that’s just my opinion. To some one else they could be the best tire ever.
I took the bike out to the public game lands yesterday. 5 hours total and didn't see another soul in there .
At this year’s IACP conference BMW was marketing police versions of both the F850 and F750, although they only had a F750 display.

Hey 4noms! yes the E07 seems to be a good middle of the road tire
