The Bent Wheels Chapter of the Cycle Conservation of Michigan is putting on the Annual Fall Color Tour in Black Lake, MI on October 5/6, 2019. This event has been hosted by the Bent Wheels since 1997. The Fall Color Tour is a non competitive event that caters to families, adventure riders, single track riders, quads and new for the first time, side by side ORV's. The local trail sytem has numerous ORV routes and trails that will allow us to dedicate routes as motorcyle only, side by side/quad only and adventure/dual sport only. The Black Lake region of MI is a bit off the main path and sees less riders than may other areas of MI. Only 45 minutes from the Mackinaw Bridge the region combines rolling terrain, hardwood and pine forests and lots of shoreline areas. Black Lake is the 7th largest inland lake in MI and is approx 10,000 acres in size. It is also one of deeper inland lakes in MI. Officially titled as the sturgeon capitol of MI and home to the first and oldest State Campground in MI, Onaway State Park. The event will be run from the Bluffs resort on the NE side of Black Lake. The Bluffs campground has room for approx 50 campsites (special arrangements have been made for this event). Adjoining the Bluffs is the Black Lake State Forest Campground containing another 52 sites. (many large sites in the woods in both campgrounds) The Bluffs has a full food menu, gasoline and showers. All riders will be required to be members of the CCC of MI. (ok to sign up at the event) The Adventure route will cover approx 150 miles on day one and approx 75 for day two. The route will include two tracks, dirt roads and some pavement. Be prepared for some sand, not 18" deep beach sand, but nonetheless, it's sandy and we will run on snowmobile trails and orv routes that will be soft in some areas.
We will have the adventure route availlable on GPS and on hard copy maps. Single track and quad routes will be hard copy only.
This is an ideal event to bring the family, and several toys to ride. We will have Sat night festivities that include skills tests (yes, on motorcycles) and chances to win prize give away's from our sponsors for all registered riders.
